35$ for a CycloDS flash cart is amazing. It may be pre-order, but hop on the list. You're kinda lucky to find this in stock for 50$+ some places.

I've had this card for ~3 months now and it has been perfect. Highly recommend it. It does come in both black and white, so if you want one to match your ds' color, this might or might not work for you.

Wow, that's hot! I paid $50 shipped just a month or two ago. That said, I've used mine so much that I don't regret having paid the extra $15 for that extra month or two.

A DSTT does pretty much the same thing & $15 cheaper.

But check reviews for stuff on that site first.

love my acekard2 that I paid $20 for. runs rock solid, works perfectly

that said, the cycloDS does offer a few more features(e.g. In-game menu with real time save, and an upcoming feature to read a .txt file in game so you can read the FAQ while still having the game open), but none that make it worthwhile for me to shell out the extra $$

Got one for my boy in Feb.($80.00) but didn't get to use it much because he only played his original Pokemon games, then his DS wouldn't read it at all after it was left in my van(in May, about 80 degrees in Houston) for one day. It's still under the 6-month warranty till August, but I will have to ship it overseas to get it replaced/repaired. Wish there's someone here that can fix it.

$35 is a good price. that's how much I had paid for most of my boy's games when I got his DS last year

I went to the mfg website and read the item description:
http://www.cyclopsds.com/cgi-bin/cyclods/engine.pl?page=products-cyclodsevolution
it mentions mp3 and images but I didn't see mention of movies
can you play videos with this?
if so what formats?

I'm not sure if it supports movies 'from the shell', but there is a program called moonshell that is kinda like a mini palm OS that can play movies in DPG format. There is a converter around that can convert almost anything.

To run homebrew you need the following things:

1) Storage - In most cards, this is a microSD that you put into the DS-sized card - the CycloDS is this way too
2) The hardware - You need some hardware to 'do stuff' - I'm not positive what the hardware all does, but I'd bet it handles memory calls, authentication of some sort etc - This is what the CycloDS is.
3) Software - There is 'card software' and 'regular software' - ie: software that the card boots up to run other software (homebrew applications and games). Its a lot like windows - you boot into the OS and from that you run other applications - only there are no 'windows' - you run an application and have to restart the DS when its done (most of the time).

So the answer is a kinda yes - You need a flashcard - there are a handful of different brands out there, but the CycloDS is, unarguably, the best.

PS to everyone that is ordering
Come shipping date, keep this order in mind - DealExtreme doesn't cancel backorders, but they will refund your money, no problem, anytime. If the backorder is never filled, DX will keep the order 'open', and your money with it.

The CycloDS comes with moonshell. There are other cards that comes with the moonshell multimedia player, but at this price the CycloDS is a no-brainer. I paid $54 for mine from RealHotStuff and it is worth every penny.
And remember, you are not only paying for this excellent hardware, but also for the excellent support from Team Cyclops.

Wow, in for two with no hesitation.

You also want one where the manf keeps putting out new firmware as new games can add new protections.

If you're getting it from DX, also get a second battery. They have one that comes with a special battery pack door that doesn't require screws so easy to change the battery. About $6.
