Doesn't appear to be available for in-store pickup. Not too bad. Wish it was a little closer to $500. After tax and shipping it is more than I want to spend. Good find though!!

I picked one up in store today. Set the machine up quickly. A nice functional laptop with enough RAM to run Vista quickly. As an aside, I attempted to call Dell and purchase a 3 year accidental damage policy from them and they would not do it for a retail sold product. I am going to use www.safeware.com at about $60 a year for coverage. Installed MS office ultimate with my $100 technet subscription, thanks for that FW.

I went to take this laptop from a best buy store and the guy over there told me that they are getting regular complaints for this model in last two days only they have got two returns on this.

Can someone tell whether this is a good deal or not?

Thanks,
Gaurav

I picked this up last night and have no complaints! The laptop is quick enough for what I'll be using it for (college courses/browsing/light photoshop) and the fit and finish is suprising for $600.

Uninstall they're software (norton, works, etc) and you have a great laptop for the price in my opinion.

BTW, it has hdmi, vga, and s-video outputs, for those looking to connect to a home theater, it also has dual headphone outputs and comes with a decent set of noise cancelling earbuds in the box.

My friend just went to BB today to get a laptop and this is the one she chose. I recommended not getting a Dell, since I've had horrible experiences with their hardware & customer service, but it was just so much cheaper than the rest of the laptops there (by about $250 for the nearest same-config). They had a similar Dell with the same case and less memory/harddrive for $50 more, not on sale.

My impressions, it looks like a very nice laptop. Thin enough, not too heavy (but not a lightweight), good shape. Lots of ports and features, and the same config on Dell.com is about $1000. The warranty card says something about being serviced by bestbuy, I hope that you can still send it in if you have to since my friend doesn't have a bestbuy near where she lives. But if it weren't for my misgivings about Dell itself, I would really like this little laptop (so far). For now, I'm holding my breath.

Comes with a ton of crap, but not too bad. First thing is to uninstall all the junk they put on and add some reasonable ones instead.

this is a good deal. I got the same config with at home warranty & lo-jack (can't take them off) for $630+tax from Dell yesterday, should have checked FW...
grab one if you can,

Anyone installed XP on it? If so, was there any problems?

Dell does not price match? Tried to get this config from Dell home and was told they do not match prices. Has anyone been successful at price matching?
