OP, this has nothing to do with your deal!Brother printers in general take up a lot of ink based on my experience. I got one from costco a year or so back and realized that they should be used as "disposable" printers.

oh yeah this machine is cheap to buy initially. but wtf I bought one last month and within 2 weeks, the black ink is down to like 5% and I don't print anything more than coupons (with a "fast print" setting that is supposed to consume less ink). every time I turn it on, I think it does some head cleaning and eats lots of ink. but upfront price is unbeatable!

this is ink guzzler, don't buy!

true, but its an ink guzzler and printing is spotty, only decent as a scanner but if the inks run out u cant do squat as it stops u from doing anything until inks are back up.

Same thing as unplugging it or removing the usb cord. Its splitting hairs. It still guzzles ink and when one is low everything comes to a halt, u cant even scan, which is the best thing about this aio, the print quality is absolutely atrocious. forget photos and any kind of graphics, if you you're just printing text then it's overkill to have a color printer. Hey, Ive said my piece, others can decide for themselves, but when a printer sells for 100 and goes on sale for half off, that tells ya something. Oh yea, google this and see the complaints.
