I own it and love it! No complaints here. Finds everything I'm looking for and more.

I agree, it was worth every penny of the $219 I spent during the last Amazon deal. Very happy with it. The more I think about it the more I wonder why you would need a widescreen GPS...I mean the roads go up/down on the screen, not left to right. Anyway, this is a great unit for anyone who doesn't need to keep it in their pocket.

i have a c550 and while i don't know how heavy it is, it definitely isn't anywhere close to 2.9 lb.

Yep, musta been an amazing price for you to not only fail to put a link, but no price as well. Stinkarooni post!

Spec from Garmin. Weight: 9 ounces. It's kinda thick IMO...

I had the C340 which is the same shape and size. It would fall often if I'd attach it via the suction cup to the windshield. One of those beanbags would be a better option.

Actually this is the best deal on the C580 that I have ever seen and is a great deal on a very highly reviewed unit from Garmin. The post should have had a link and a price but in the end it is actually a good enough deal to put on the front page. This GPS is loaded and does come with free updates to the 2009 maps.

Do you have to pay a fee for MSN Direct? The Amazon link stats it's a trial offer.

i got c550 from bestbuy @ 160 last week. should i return and get this one instead since it has 1 year msn direct. any thoughts ?

any other diff btwn c550 and 580 other than msn direct ?

MSN direct comes free for 1 year then you have to pay for it.

That's the only difference and based on the mixed reviews on MSN Direct I would keep the C550.

It's too bad this post has so much red since it really is a hot deal.

How much to renew msn direct for this garmin?

garmin nuvi 260 or streetpilot c580? can't decide..

The deal is great, just wanted to mention that the technology on this unit is getting a bit dated.
For a little more Nuvi 360 is a little more current offering.

Little digging: msn direct garmin 580 plans

I'm not impressed with the coverage map for coverage map for 580

The Nuvi 360 press release was in Oct. 2006 and the C580 press release was in Jan. 2007. So the Nuvi 360 does not really seem like more of a current offering. Plus it does not have near the features of the C580.

Own it and love it! Yep, I have trouble with the windshield mount sticking as well and would love to pick up a beanbag for it.

I used my daughter's C340 and never had an issue with the mount. It stuck too well, making it hard to remove.

Similar Garmin C550, not the 580 is a bit cheaper at Costco.com free shipping.

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?whse=BC&topnav=&prodid=11277587&ec=BC-EC877-CatHome&pos=9&lang=en-US

comes with bean bag stand for free.

I have this one also, its thicker than the nuvi's but its a nice size.

Very fast processor, multiple voices, bluetooth, mp3, and much more. I definitely recommend this for the budget and for a great device.

Plus Costco doubles the warranty to boot.

I bought this on the last Amazon deal(219) and returned it in a week. Its made of cheap plastics including the touch screen. Its so cheap. Its really bulky and cant be easily taken anywhere else than the car. The MSN direct thing was a Joke as it shows 3 days older Gas prices and the traffic alerts where never updated even though i had good reception. Unfortunately the bluetooth also didnt work properly with my phone. My comments are not a thread crap, but seriously buy the Nuvi models. I bought the NUVI 200W and i am very happy with it.

C550 is $187.98 at Amazon. If you want the bean bag mount, it's $19.99 more, so about $8 more than Costco. However, most people pay tax at Costco and not at Amazon. Less at Amazon w/o BB mount, about the same w/ BB mount.

Nice find. Greeeeen!

Now 189!

Excellent deal. Just received mine and works like a charm. MSN direct is cool! Traffic works well in LA. Free 2009 maps update. Personally I dont mind the thicker size as opposed to Nuvi models. There's no reason for me to want to carry this around in my pocket. Like I'm going to walk to another city? I like the size, it works very well and is at a great price for what you get.

Now $179.

Would gladly have the size and features vs. a smaller Nuvi w/o the features for the same or higher price.

got this a few months ago at 225, def a good pickup at this price
