I've been planning to sign up, just waiting for a discount that was worth the annoyance of having another card.

edit: my wife has excellent credit and has some cards with 35k credit limits. the Kohl's credit limit that came with my wife's card was a paltry $300 so don't expect a large initial credit limit.
Anyone know if you can get the discount by using a combo of credit card and gift card? I have $44 in GC that I need to use, but considering Kohl's "non-sale" prices, it really devalues the amount.

Your wife probably only got a $300 limit because she already has a ton of "revolving credit" already!! Credit companys are only going to let you have so much revolving credit. Do you actually think the more credit you have the more they should give you??? Huge risk....
It seems to me that a lot of dept stores give small initial credit limits and that you have to call them to and request a higher limit if you want it. That policy of course is different if your first sale is larger. It's a simple way of approving a lot of people quickly without the need for reviewing all applications by the credit manager.
