You have NO idea of WTH you are talking about.. I, and many others, have done this kind of deal. I used one of my " junk " hotmail addys and there has not been ONE increase in the number of spam e-mails. I have not gotten any telemarketing phone calls. Maybe its because I am on a " Do not call list " I applied for the card. Got OK'd in about 1 1/2 weeks. Activatied and make the required purchase on 6/05/2008 and just got notified that my " preimuim " has been shipped. So, noob, make sure of what you " think " your facts are before yapping your HUGE mouth. ilusha said:***Don't do it!!!***

I applied under the Canon A580 deal a couple of months ago. I took a while to activate and use it and just got notified today that my camera order has been placed with Amazon. |

HotStuff2 said:amehul99 said:getting more cards will eventually effect the credit history. For $150 of nano, you are making your credit score bad and in return when you go apply for mortgage you get bad rate due to bad score.
Even 1/16th % of the rate higher for life and size of loan is much higher than $150
Think twice before doing it...is $150 nano worth $1000's when interest rate is higher due to bad credit score? Not true. If you happen to have "too many cards" and you apply for, say, a home loan, they'll just ask (or tell) you to close some of the cards.
Just go to the finance forum, plenty of discussions about this very subject. Thanks for the info. I for one have 8 credit cards (frequently use two of the cards) and have a high credit score. |

So my garmin shipped 35 days ago, in for another toy. Like last time i got 'pending approval, we'll contact you'. Grr...i have to check my credit report and make sure i'm typing the address exactly right (or would it be somethign else?). I always get this from instant-apps even though i'm always approved. FICO in the neighborhood of 750-800. Oh, and to those concerned about too many cards, I have something like 25 "open accounts". What really matters is 1) late payments 2) debt to available credit to income ratios 3) length of credit history - particularly long-term accouns, which means don't close that 10 year old CC you never use. Keep it slightly active and it will help your score. |

I thought Discover has a policy of not allowing additional cards until any open ones have at least a 7 month payment history. I'll be interested in your new application outcome. |

do you have to cancel your previous card from the garmin deal before you jump on this one, or is the 30 requirement only thing that matters? Thanks |

I got in on the camera deal (camera arrived very quickly!!) and waited 30 days and then tried to sign up for the gps. On the second application it wasn't automatically approved like the first time I applied. I waited about a week and called Discover - they cancelled my second application. I talked to someone in new accounts and they said they wouldn't give me a second card until I have a 6 month payment record with them (I have excellent credit...). Good luck getting a second card if these offers are the first time you've done business with Discover. |

NOT TO START A PANIC, but I just called DISCOVER directly to see if they could verify this vendor (mymp3playeroffer.com) or the domain that comes up (https://discovercardapplication.com) when you enter this, and they cound not confirm either. They couldn't say definitively that this was ill-intentioned, but the CSR I spoke with recommended I do not submit to this offer. |

I would be willing to bet they don't know anything about it either, yet people are starting to receive theirs in the mail. You are assuming that every CSR knows about every offer that the credit card company offers. We all know communicating all offers to their employees does not happen. |

People have done their deals before and gotten their Discover Cards AND gotten the premium. For you to start claiming that they are not legit when there is proof otherwise is just idiotic. I'd also hope that our friends at Fatwallet have done some homework to make sure that they are legit before having them as a featured offer here. If you call and ask the Discover CSR whether they've ever heard of Cardoffers or any of the other places that will pay you for signing up for a Discover Card, do you expect they'll know who they are??? |
