dfogle said:I got in on the camera deal (camera arrived very quickly!!) and waited 30 days and then tried to sign up for the gps. On the second application it wasn't automatically approved like the first time I applied. I waited about a week and called Discover - they cancelled my second application. I talked to someone in new accounts and they said they wouldn't give me a second card until I have a 6 month payment record with them (I have excellent credit...).
Good luck getting a second card if these offers are the first time you've done business with Discover. Have you asked them if it's possible to cancel your Miles by Discover card and then approve this new application? I recall there are reports that it works (YMMV). |

Regarding the security of this offer: The first page with the general info is the offer's site which they need to have to ship the item to you. The next page is the secure Discover Card site. I'm waiting for my GPS to ship from the other deal. |

Everyone gives cards to green card holders as long as their credit score if high enough. Sorry, I meant if you are not a green card holder they wont give you a credit card. eg. Canadian on a TN Visa Even with the right credit score. |

Why don't you call back and ask about the GPS offer? I would be willing to bet they don't know anything about it either, yet people are starting to receive theirs in the mail. You are assuming that every CSR knows about every offer that the credit card company offers. We all know communicating all offers to their employees does not happen. Reading is fundamental. I made no such assumption. Someone before me legitimately asked about the security of the website, and no answered them. I also posted, and no one addressed that either. So, the next step seemed to call Discover. I have no other way to check the legitimacy, and in this day and age it seems practical to try to look into something before handing over sufficient information to get your identity stolen. |

People have done their deals before and gotten their Discover Cards AND gotten the premium. For you to start claiming that they are not legit when there is proof otherwise is just idiotic.
I'd also hope that our friends at Fatwallet have done some homework to make sure that they are legit before having them as a featured offer here.
If you call and ask the Discover CSR whether they've ever heard of Cardoffers or any of the other places that will pay you for signing up for a Discover Card, do you expect they'll know who they are??? Forgive my "idiocy," but I guess I don't have your clairvoyance. See my post immediately above. And, yes I'd expect there is a possibility that the Discover CSR would be able to verify this for exactly the reason of my post. In fact, I was put on hold twice as they said they were trying to verify it. Sure, she could've been blowing me off, but I'd rather trust her than a website with which I have no familiarity. And, she was in fact aware of other promotions, just not this one. I also was not aware that any former deal was with this same entity. |

I also was not aware that any former deal was with this same entity. There were several comments in this thread discussing the earlier deals. If you weren't sure if they were the same place you could have asked rather than assuming otherwise. By coming in with this alarming news that you think you've discovered (no pun intented) that this is all a scam means either that 1) you didn't read the previous posts, or 2) you think you know better. Neither involves clairvoyance. |

True, you can apply for this offer only if you are US citizen or permanent resident. However, this only means you cannot apply online for a Discover card. You can still call them and ask for alternate ways of applying for a Discover card. Obviously, this means you cannot qualify for this offer, though... |

I trust Discover more than I do you. In the meantime, now that I'm not at work and have some more time, I've looked some more and did find the old thread. The same types of questions were set forth there, and some were never answered and some were answered in a manner that conflicts with what Discover said. The greatest factor seems to be that most folks reported eventually getting their GPS, and from that others presumed the deal was valid and the site would not take advantage of their personal information. |

Anytime I try one of these deals, I'm well aware that I'm taking a chance. What convinced me to try it out anyways is that several people have already mentioned having success w/ previous deals, and the fact that FatWallet is allowing this as an ad. I'm assuming FatWallet (unlike some other websites) wouldn't knowingly promote more dubious 'deals'. As for the Discover CSR situation, it would be nice to get a confirmation from one, but to be honest I wouldn't expect them to know anything about this. If your experiences w/ CSR's are anything like mine, many times they aren't even familiar w/ many aspects of their immediate job, much less an obscure promotion their company is involved in that probably pales in comparison to other major promotions that draw in 99% of their clientele. |

FYI: - Applied (yesterday) July 16th. Approved on the spot. Got email saying that I indeed applied, Welcome, etc. - Got a second email today (July 17th) saying that my Discover card is on the way. Looks to me like this site was legit. As to whether or not the iPod will actually come, we'll have to see. But, I am just trying to address the security concerns raised previously. |

Regarding the safety of this website...i dont think this is a phishing scheme. if your social security number, address, etc is being forwarded to hackers who are using it to steal identities, then i am a victim. i was in for the gps so now i guess my next step will be to withdraw all my money from the bank and hide it in my freezer so no hacker withdraws it. i made sure to have my gf sign up for this ipod deal so im not the only one whos identity will be stolen. she can suffer with me. tough break for her. |

Back to the multiple-cards question: has anyone been approved who got their card a couple months ago (for the Canon Powershot A580 deal)? An earlier post from someone described a rejection after getting a card last month (for the Garmin Nuvi). So I wonder if a two-month-old card can be replaced, but not a one-month-old card. |

green card holder or American citizen has nothing to do with getting a Discover card. your credit history is what is more important. You can get second card if you have a credit card from discover that is more than 10 months old. however when u apply for the second one the first card will be closed. It is legitimate as far as all offers are concerned. most people got their items. go to the GPS thread and find more information. every tiny bit details were discussed there. Gps offer was my first discover card offer. I got the GPS. I applied for a second card and was denied. because I have only one month of history with discover. |

I already had another Discover Card (have had it for years) and was able to get approved for this one. I wasn't approved immediately, but called up and they just needed to verify a couple items and said I was approved and would be getting the card by next week. Hopefully the Nano will follow... |
