Heh...make it a 3G iPhone and I'll do it. I hate the new square Nano's, personally (not that I particularly like iPods in general.) I preferred the older slim skinny model instead.
Anyone know how long the approval process for discover card is? I know shipping is 6-10 weeks after activation, but I was wondering how long activation takes...
Besides, I don't think discover card will approve me, but even if they would I would rather have the old nano - it didn't fall out of my pocket when I go to the gym like the new one did (hanging upside or on an incline bench, I mean). I sold my newer nano to a friend, and bought a sansa that works ok.

I thought the older (v2?) model was darn near perfect, shape-wise.

I own all three versions of the Nano and I like this one the best because the screen is bigger and brighter. Video is actually not too bad. No problem with it at the gym with the excellent Belkin armband for Nano. Of all the DC offers, this is probably the best price wise since Ipods are not discounted much.
1) No annual fee on Discover Card 2) Just go thru link to apply for the card, get the card and activate it over the telephone like any new credit card you get, make 1-purchase (any amount) at a store. You will automatically get your NANO, you need to nothing else. 3) Some people will be approved automatically, some people will get the we need more info and our application is being reviewed. 4) Most people will hear about their application status in a few weeks. If you are approved automatically, you will get your card quicker. 5) Once you make a purchase, some people have received their promo in a few weeks, other longer. 6) If already have a Discover Card and have had it for years, you will still probably qualify and you will get a letter from Discover later on that they are cancelling your old account. 7) If you have gotten in on one of the other promos, you more than likely will not qualify, even though it says you can apply every 30-days. 8) Anyone want to trade a Canon 580 camera NIB for their NANO?
This promo is legit, and the prizes do come. You can check your NANO shipping status HERE

I applied for the GPS/Discover card promo 6 to 8 weeks ago. I may have to apply for this one also.
Does anybody know how often you can get a promo deal through MyGpsOffers.com?
Get the Ipod and quit~~~just like the camera they give out last time
Don't use their card no matter how many % Cash Back they told you. This is the worst credit card compnay I ever deal with. For every $1000 you spent, you could only get $3 back

getting more cards will eventually effect the credit history. For $150 of nano, you are making your credit score bad and in return when you go apply for mortgage you get bad rate due to bad score.
Even 1/16th % of the rate higher for life and size of loan is much higher than $150
Think twice before doing it...is $150 nano worth $1000's when interest rate is higher due to bad credit score?

Just go to the finance forum, plenty of discussions about this very subject.

After entering the contact infor on the first page, what's next?
The instruction says click a link to apply, does that link to Discover Card site or mymp3playeroffer's site?
I worry about all personal information entered into a non-credit-card site.

***Don't do it!!!***
You will become an internet lead. They will sell your information to god knows who and your phone will not stop ringing. Can you imagine how many times they have to sell your info to recoup $150 and then make profit?
You have NO idea of WTH you are talking about.. I, and many others, have done this kind of deal. I used one of my " junk " hotmail addys and there has not been ONE increase in the number of spam e-mails. I have not gotten any telemarketing phone calls. Maybe its because I am on a " Do not call list " I applied for the card. Got OK'd in about 1 1/2 weeks. Activatied and make the required purchase on 6/05/2008 and just got notified that my " preimuim " has been shipped. So, noob, make sure of what you " think " your facts are before yapping your HUGE mouth.

I applied under the Canon A580 deal a couple of months ago. I took a while to activate and use it and just got notified today that my camera order has been placed with Amazon.

So my garmin shipped 35 days ago, in for another toy. Like last time i got 'pending approval, we'll contact you'. Grr...i have to check my credit report and make sure i'm typing the address exactly right (or would it be somethign else?). I always get this from instant-apps even though i'm always approved. FICO in the neighborhood of 750-800.
Oh, and to those concerned about too many cards, I have something like 25 "open accounts". What really matters is 1) late payments 2) debt to available credit to income ratios 3) length of credit history - particularly long-term accouns, which means don't close that 10 year old CC you never use. Keep it slightly active and it will help your score.

I thought Discover has a policy of not allowing additional cards until any open ones have at least a 7 month payment history. I'll be interested in your new application outcome.

do you have to cancel your previous card from the garmin deal before you jump on this one, or is the 30 requirement only thing that matters? Thanks

I got in on the camera deal (camera arrived very quickly!!) and waited 30 days and then tried to sign up for the gps. On the second application it wasn't automatically approved like the first time I applied. I waited about a week and called Discover - they cancelled my second application. I talked to someone in new accounts and they said they wouldn't give me a second card until I have a 6 month payment record with them (I have excellent credit...).
Good luck getting a second card if these offers are the first time you've done business with Discover.

I too worry about this. Because this a Fatwallet advertisement, do we have some sense of assurance that this is not just a way to snag our personal info?

NOT TO START A PANIC, but I just called DISCOVER directly to see if they could verify this vendor (mymp3playeroffer.com) or the domain that comes up (https://discovercardapplication.com) when you enter this, and they cound not confirm either. They couldn't say definitively that this was ill-intentioned, but the CSR I spoke with recommended I do not submit to this offer.

Why don't you call back and ask about the GPS offer? I would be willing to bet they don't know anything about it either, yet people are starting to receive theirs in the mail. You are assuming that every CSR knows about every offer that the credit card company offers. We all know communicating all offers to their employees does not happen.

People have done their deals before and gotten their Discover Cards AND gotten the premium. For you to start claiming that they are not legit when there is proof otherwise is just idiotic.
I'd also hope that our friends at Fatwallet have done some homework to make sure that they are legit before having them as a featured offer here.
If you call and ask the Discover CSR whether they've ever heard of Cardoffers or any of the other places that will pay you for signing up for a Discover Card, do you expect they'll know who they are???

It says the same "Your order has not yet shipped. When it does ship, an email containing a URL to track the status of your shipment will be sent to the email address that you specified when you created your order."
