My weekly ad says $450 ;/ ?! I can't seem to add it to my cart, so I guess I have to call, make the order, then pick it up at the store?? If that's the case, I suggest OP change wording of first post to "in store pickup only" from "in store". -fro |

bimmyjx said:also have problems with Acer Aspire models with the keys not registering when you hit the first time around. have to hit em much harder. anyway, you should post the model of the Acer you having the keyboard problem with so that we can find out if its all the model or just 1 specific series. The model in question is an Extenza, not the Aspire. The cases/keyboards are totally different. (Comparing Aspire to Entensa is like comparing a Dell Inspiron to their XPS.) |

When I called yesterday they said there were none in the NY area and it was a regional clearance item. Now it seems to be 'readily' available - so much for the regional clearance crap. And it's still out of stock at the newer price (for me) so dead deal for me. It's an 'outlet' item so I guess that's why. |

I didn't know about FAR router when I bought my laptop and printer yesterday. If I go back to CC and buy the router now, will I still get the router for free because it is on a different receipt from laptop/printer? Also, looking at the router rebate form, it doesn't ask for a proof that you bought your laptop. Do they want a copy of the UPC of the laptop or the router? Maybe both. Form is very vague. |

Because of Windows Vista performance, I think you should spend $100, $200 more to get the more powerful computer. |

Anyone who managed to successfully upgrade (downgrade) to Win XP? I read over on Newegg that you need to get most XP drivers from Acer and the the rest from MS. Just wondering how difficult this would be. I think replacing the two 512MB sticks of ram with 2 1GB sticks is also a necessity. |

Windows Vista kills the deal, but at least it doesn't have all the one star ratings that the Toshiba for the same new price ($429) has. |

It really is the easiest thing to upgrade on any Laptop!!Same deal with the knee. Just open the skin holders, pull on the kneecap and it pops off, remove knee, install knee. Too easy!!!!!! It really is the easiest joint to replace on a human. |

As far as putting xp drivers on, this person wrote a decent guide on the process. The extensa 6420 xp and vista drivers are also here.
Thanks for the heads-up. Here's the whole discussion on Extensa 5620 Downgrade (or UPGRADE) to XP: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=2765354#post2765354 Slimcat |

You guys are being dramatic about the ram install. An Acer laptop was my first ram install I ever did (about 2 weeks ago) and it was very simple. The tabs/screws weren't a problem. |
