Have you tried it, I've bought many exclusions with this coupon including a wii. It is absolutely worth an in store shot.

Aha! Thanks! I've had my eye on another camera, but I'll avoid going off topic here.
wcat said: Only $599.99 on Amazon.com or Sony.com. True dat...but kits do not include a second battery or camera case at either of these sites...it appears. Somebody correct me if I'm missing something. Link at amuhzon Link at Sony Amahzon is selling the bag/extra battery kit for $76 here. So, if the price is close enough for you...just need to figure in all the variables like tax, shipping, etc.. , when comparing the prices. I'm not in a hurry, so I'll wait for a sweeter deal on it before biting.

For an extra $50 for both the battery and the case, Circuit City's deal is better than both of these. I highly recommend you keep a spare battery with you when you're taking pics

When you take into account the sales tax you pay at Circuit City versus no tax at Amazon (not to mention gas to and from the store), the prices are probably the same at both places.

It all depends on where you live, what your tax rate is, whether Amazon charges tax in your state, and how much mpg your car gets Also, whether you actually owe the sales tax (regardless of where you buy the item) is another topic entirely. I know what the IRS will say ...

In my experience, Sony batteries are absolutely second to none. The A100 was rated to 750 shots with one charge, and that was accurate in my use. Now, I have the A700 with the updated battery, and it's equally incredible (one guy did a personal test and took THOUSANDS of photos on one charge). While I had two batteries with my Minolta 7D and routinely needed them, I have never needed a 2nd battery with my Sony DSLRs, though I do plan to get one for extended trips in the future.
I'm not saying it isn't a good deal, though.
Incidentally, Sony has standard pricing across all vendors now through something called SURE -- basically Sony MSRP except it isn't "Suggested" anymore, it's mandated. You can thank the Supreme Court for allowing that.

The G9 is a good camera w/DSLR features (lots of manual modes, well constructed, ability to shoot RAW) in a point and shoot size. If you're in the market for a DSLR, then obviously the G9 isn't for you. But people getting into DSLRs for the first time don't realize what a pain it is to lug around a bunch of lenses.
And if you need greater than 6x optical zoom, then why the heck are you using a point and shoot instead of your DSLR??
FWIW you might be able to use the AAA 8% discount with this Sony deal.
