Seems dead now.

About the 2405 vs 2408 comments...... I have the 2405 myself. Buddy of mine picked up a 2408 awhile back. I thought there was something a little off with his, but just chalked it up to me being used to mine thus subconciously biased or something. I thought it was me, but I guess I wasnt imagining things after all.

I can't believe my 2405 is still the last good 24" display from Dell (I'm disregarding TN panels).

I wouldn't mind upgrading at some point, but right now nothing newer is an upgrade.

Thanks Trikat for that monitor test site.

Linked because you were a typing maniac.

I have an "old" 2405FPW and it faired pretty well for the test. I think I'll keep it given the problems of the newer monitors.

My guess is most people are receiving good monitors or they do not now the difference between a good and bad monitor.
My 2408WFP has major issues mostly with horrible sharpness (that cannot be adjusted properly), 1/3 of the screen is brighter/different in color, slight input lag issues, and a few others.
I would not recommend this monitor since it has been one of the most dissapointing monitors on forums (hardforum, Dell, other forums that talk about displays).
I do have to say the price is quite good for a 24" non TN panel, but I just do not understand why the quality is so poor.
The "A01" (new firmware) is supposed to be out in mid July and people will be notified of the new firmware on the Dell forums. I would wait for the new forum before purchasing or if you cannot wait just get it now and exchange it later (if you have many of the issues).

Regarding the sharpness adjustment, I believe there is a new firmware out for this monitor (soon if not already available). I believe it allows you to adjust your sharpness in increments of 10 instead of 25. Details are here.

The same is true for any LCD display.

Does anyone know if this deal ever coming back? Also, how often does the $599 deal occur on a recurring basis because that deal is now dead too
