This will NOT work for the 3G iPhone even though it says it does. I've bought a few 3rd party home chargers and car chargers for my 3G iphone and the phone says "this accessory cannot charge the iphone".

Do not purchase if you have 3G!
yeah, I've got to return the 5 buck one I got off Buy.com and the $20 one from Wal-Mart. With this battery life I guess I'm gonna just have to go get one at the att store for $25

How do you know it doesnt work with iPhone 3G. How about iPhone? anyway, i am going to buy 2 since it is flat shipping. if it doesnt work my 3G, I will ask for refund.

Unfortunately MOST car charges don't work with the 3G iPhone. The 3G iPhone officially removed firewire support, which most accessory manufacturers still used for power (as its easier and cheaper since the car is already providing the 12v line that firewire used - rather than stepping the 12v line down to 5v for USB).
Progress for Apple means annoyance for all of us, even my car's built in iPod hookup will no longer charge the 3G iPhone.
