I have restoed my HP dv5000 laptop 3 times in last 2 months. It keeps coming back. I suspect that it is residing in the recovery parition D: also it is smarter than microSoft as it deletes all the RESTORE points. Microsoft SUX. they should somehow safeguard against that atleast. Please anyone has any success with this VUNDO please share.

I would try disabling system restore, boot into safe mode, delete temp files using atf, run vundofix, reboot in normal mode, install superantispyware and update def., reboot in safe mode, run full scan w/ superantispyware. try hijackthis also. It's best to try tech support sites instead of here to get more detailed help instructions. deallover said:cedarperra said:Anyone have the malware named Vundo? I'd love to get rid of it. Please anyone has any success with this VUNDO please share. This above post pretty much says it all. Well, at least most all. It took me almost 2-weeks to get rid of Vundo! And, I am proud! A local respected computer store (not BB) (not even close to BB) asked a friend what I used to remove Vundo after my friend returned the computer after the 5th service attempt! You will succeed using a tech site. Good luck! |

They have a great tech help support board with experienced IT people. I had to download several removal tools and follow the steps accordingly. It was a NIGHTMARE. |

Always, always, ALWAYS do these things in safe mode with System Restore disabled. If you boot normally, many processes can not be accessed and the offending files can not be removed. The guys who write this malware obviously do not intend it to be easy to remove. |

This program is not bad. It found 7 objects( actually six of them are cookies and one is a low risk process)when Kaspersky didn't find them. Easy to use and looks nice. I like Lavasoft more but it is free, what makes it hard to argue. |
