KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Mixer - Nickel Pearl $300 Archived From: Hot Deals |
If you've got a Wegmans store in the area (Northeast), you might find some of these in white, black, or nickel pearl color for $260. Of course, local sales tax would apply.
The empire red is even cheaper: $294.97
Warmly,
beaglette
There is also a rebate for a free smaller bowl and a whip. Good for smaller jobs. I just bought this unit a few weeks ago. So far so good.

How are you doing the tracking? I thought there was a way to do it on Amazon but haven't figured it out. Thanks!
This one works pretty well. Just enter the ASIN number found on the Amazon product page.

Amaazon Kitchen & Home One Day Sale today. Nickel Pearl, Licorice, Empire Red and Meringue now $289.99. Get a price adjustment if you bought it earlier this month. When you first go to the OP's link it shows a low price of $277 but I can't figure out which one that is.
These things are nice for light duty. Just don't try the meat grinder attachment on the front. We ruined two Kitchenaids then I threw that meat grinder away and the third one is still mixing dough.

Now everyone is all about the Cuisinart one for super heavy duty work. Cuisinart Crazy expensive but even America's Test Kitchen has it as their new top mixer.
Still can't believe you managed to wear out two kitchenaids...that's crazy.

Are you talking about the 600? And more specifically, the 600 since the plastic gearbox cover was replaced with a metal one? I wouldn't really consider the 600 a light duty mixer.
As far as the pricing, it has been lower, but it's been quite a while. Just because it was $229 once doesn't mean it will get there again.

The one I have is a KitchenAid Professional 600 and it does have metal gears. I took it apart and the gears that operate the front attachment such as meat grinder were self destructed. The second one I took apart and it had the exact same problem. Unfortunately that also messes up the mixing bowl part. As I said, I threw the meat grinder away and we are still using our 3rd KitchenAid without troubles. We do use the pasta roller on the front and it works fine. We've learned to be real careful as the gears are quite easy to ruin. That's been my experience with kitchenaid 600. Williams & Sonoma was good about the warranty.
All in all I agree it's a good mixer. It's a terrible meat grinder. It's an excellent pasta roller. Homemade noodles are yum, yum. ![]()
got a kitchenaid 600 about a year ago for under $100 by having bed bath beyond price match the best deal i could find (at the time, it was home depot) and then stacking 20% off coupon... maybe that can sweeten this deal.

Yes, all the 600s have metal gears. But most if not all of the ones built before a certain date (I believe summer/fall of 2007) had a plastic gear housing that could deform under very heavy use, and allow the gears to slip and damage themselves.
