Good find!

I saw the Newegg deal, but at the moment this is even better. Looks like both companies are jumping the gun in advance of the upcoming Q3 Intel price reductions. From what I'm reading, Intel is rolling out the "Core 2 Duo E8600 with a clock speed of 3.33GHz, a 1333MHz FSB, and 6MB of cache memory expected to be priced at $266." They go on to say "The Core 2 Duo E8500 should see its price fall from $266 to $183" so perhaps the Newegg and Mwave prices are just the beginning!

The prices are going to continue to drop in the next few weeks and stay at these lower prices. So, there's really no reason to jump on them because they are going to stay lower.

E8500 never really made any logical sense, it is only slightly faster stock than an e8400 but cost a lot more, now that they cost the same if one was in the market for an E8400 then an E8500 would be the way to go.

Note the e8400/e8500 will be dumped in 2-3 months for much cheaper than you see here if you can wait a bit

Interesting how this compares to the 2.2GHz Quad Core 6600 with 8MB and 1066FSB for the same price

Depends on what applications you're using. There's an obvious difference between 3.16 ghz and 2.2ghz... Personally I have a need for raw speed on a core by core basis because my main apps aren't multithreaded.

Just a slight correction ... the Q6600 is 2.4ghz

The interesting thing is, all of these (Newegg, Amazon, Mwave, Buy.com) are now actually OVERPRICED since over the weekend "the 3.16-GHz E8500 Intel Core 2 Duo has dropped a whopping 31%, from $266 to $183."
