How did you do the PM?
I think Staples has changed PM policy.

Thank you,

Thank you,

any luck PM it in Illinois? the manager refused to PM in Wheeling said Staples only PM to major retail stores, like Best Buy or Circuit City

BTW, Circuit City has the same device for 129 without any rebates...

Staples price is $129 after rebate. Do you think it makes sense to try, and is it worth it at the final price of $79 for Canon MX700 AIO (PM + rebate Staples rebate)?

PM failed in Chapel Hill, NC. Clerk dropped the price from $179.99 to $129.99 to match Circuit City's and Best Buy's price, rang up the sale, then did a double-take when the cash register printed out the MIR form. Called over a manager, who told me they'll only PM if a competitor's price is below Staples' "final" price (i.e Staples' retail price minus the rebate). Transaction got voided. So close...

I'll have to get it at Amazon instead (currently $117 + free super-saver shipping).

EDIT: Ah, found another deal: $100 from Newegg with coupon code PYPLCANMX700 . (which auto-signs you up for their newsletter, but I assume I can unsubscribe later). FatWallet link + details. Good till 8/15/2008, IIRC.

Newegg now has it for $99.99 with free 3-business day shipping and no coupon code or rebate.

MX700 at Newegg

Staples.com ($179.99)was willing to match, except their policy was to tack on $73 (Newegg's next day air shipping cost) to the $99.99 price to make it comparable to Staples' next day free shipping for orders over $50. No talk of the rebate affecting anything, but a no-go anyway.

I was successful at my local Staples store yesterday in doing a pricematch with Circuit City ($179.99 vs. $129.99). Then I used a $20 off $100 in-store coupon that just came in the mail.

When the rebate form printed out, the manager said, "I can't give this to you". That was ok with me. It is a mail in rebate anyway, so I just printed the form out from Staples' website & sent it in.

I already own one of these printers, and it is THE BEST printer I've ever owned. It never jams, prints color beautifully, is pretty quiet and thrifty with ink. I'll never buy another HP or Brother again!

Total price will be $60 plus tax, after the rebate. Thanks, OP.

Lucky you. I've been after this printer for months now. I wish Staples around here were like that. I've been trying to do that forever with this printer. all the managers go check the price on the tag and come back telling me its the same price as the competitor and to go buy from them if i want the instant savings. I almost got it from one Staples. he adjusted the price, took my credit card and rang me up. But then when the rebate form printed, he voided the transaction and charged me back the reg price. i told him i didnt want to rebate form, but still gave me reg price. Staples must be getting a lot of this PM before rebate and are finally catching on.

Gah! Newegg's price for the MX700 is back up to $149.99! And Amazon no longer sells it with free shipping.
