I know this probably belongs in the travel forum, and the WRG is not a new deal, but I am simply too excited to pass this up.

I was looking for a hotel in NYC in Sept. for a day or two, and the Ramada The New Yorker (across the street from MSG) lists their one queen bedroom for $239 for August 31, while Hotels.com lists it for $219.

And according to the best rate guarantee on Ramada's homepage, if you book at the Ramada site, and find a cheaper public rate for the same dates and room, your first night is free (even if you only book one night).

There is a LONG thread in SD that tells you exactly how to get it done.

So if any FW-ers are traveling to New York, this is a great deal.

Again I apologize for posting this here, but the travel forum gets nowhere nearly the attention as this forum.

You lived there for a YEAR? How and why?

DOA. thanks for the effort though.

^^ Yeah, how and why? ^^

Anyway, more info at the Ramada website.

Not going to link to SD, but it's there also.

See, here's the thing.

If people are visiting New York and want a deal on a hotel, they will cruise over to the Travel forum and find this thread.

For those of us who aren't looking for a hotel in New York, posting this will not make us jump on the deal.

The "Metro Queen Room" is $219 on both websites so I'm not sure how you're going to get it for free. The one for $239 on Ramada site is called "New Yorker Queen" - have no clue about the difference.

So far it hasn't worked for me -- cannot find identical type rooms at both Ramada & Hotels, where Hotels.com is cheaper.
Other than the Metro (where Hotels.com is same price), the teo have no room types in common:

RAMADA has >>
* Metro Room (1Q) -- USUALLY NOT AVAIL
* New Yorker Queen Room (1Q)
* City View Queen Room (1Q)
* Plaza Suite/ 2 Double Beds (2DBL)
* Executive Queen Suite With View (1Q)

HOTEL.COM has >>>
* Metro Room-1 Queen
* Metro Room- 2 Doubles
* Executive Suite - 2 Double }
* Towers at the New Yorker - 1 Queen } USUALLY NOT AVAIL
