anyone know if this card is any good? i'm looking for a card to run an HD projector and this seems like it would be perfect (especially for that price).

the picture shows that it is.... now whether or not it comes with a low profile bracket or 2 is the question.

This card woudl not be great for current 3D games as it only has a 64bit memory. Older games and games that are not as fast paced should be ok.

Yes it will make a great video card for video as it has decoding abilities.

The picture at Newegg shows it comes with a b racket to make it an low-profile card. So it should fit in most small cases.

Green vote from me.

How does this compare to ati hd2400 and hd2600 series cards?

Can you pass audio through the hdmi output somehow?

How many outputs are active at the same time? looking to split my HTPC running VMC to a PJ, Monitor, and LCD TV. Was going to split VGA, but if i can run 2 VGA and a HDMI w/ audio, or even HDMI w/ audio, DVI, VGA that would solve my problem.
thanks
Dave

Some of us don't want to tip law enforcement and this keeps us under the radar.

Or maybe they mean it's for slim tower computers like from Dell that are much thinner than the usual mini-tower.

Yes, you can pass the audio through the hdmi. I don't game, but I installed the 512MB version of this card (from Visontek) in a HTPC that I built and so far it was worked flawlessly.

Low profile isn't "better" so much as it is "required" if your case won't fit a regular height video card, like the Dell4600C for example. if you have a regular size case, you won't want to pay extra or limit yourself to low-profile cards - get this deal if it appeals to you in terms of the card's price vs capabilities, not because it is lower.

The same card at same price is also listed in this FW thread a coupla days ago

Linkydinky

And yes it is a low profile card.

Very good price on a basic card (i.e. good for an HTPC or basic, non-gaming, non-graphics intensive PC) that will decode HD sources. However, the consensus on AVS Forum's HTPC forum is that you're probably better off with either a 2600 or a 3470, 3650 or better for better video quality as the higher end cards do some video post processing to give an improved image quality, which the 3450 does not do.

yes, but the passive cooling fanless design is very enticing.

Will this work on pci x16 slots or only pci 2.0 slots? is there a difference?

I am trying to put this in an old Dell optiplex gx280 and I am pretty sure it has a pci x16 slot.
