Don't understand why they call it 5-ply?
"has an aluminum core for even heating and a shiny stainless surface inside and out",
that's a 3-ply.

The specs say it has a 3-ply aluminum core.

Professional performance provided by five-ply construction: a three-ply aluminum core is permanently bound (clad) between two layers of stainless steel. How does this compare to the likes of All-Clad?

I'd like to know how it compares to All-Clad or Analon as well. Many of these brands have gone downhill since they moved production overseas. Our most used pan needs to be replaced and my wife said just don't get another one from China. I didn't think I would ever choose products based on where they were manufactured, but after seeing the Thomas Train car recall I really can't trust anything made in China either.

Amazon doesn't say where their products are manufactured. I may have to shell out for Le Creuset.

Sorry, I had to say my piece. This is Super nice cookware that will last you a lifetime; it is definitely on par with All-Clad. I have purchased clad stainless cookware for myself and 3 others over the last several years, and this KitchenAid set it Extremely nice. I have purchased All-clad, Cuisinart, Kenmore and this KitchenAid set, all multi-ply (3-5 ply) stainless clad, and all on Super sale through FW! I can recommend every one of them. The only Analon I might consider would be a disposable non-stick omelet pan.

I posted the original deal. Still an amazing set, now with a more amazing price.
