Update: I just got my bat in the mail, it is #304 of what appears to be a limited run of 583(pretty cool),the engraving is all different from the one in the link because it gives the date, time, and location of homerun 304. Also, it measures 34" not 36".

Update 7/28/08: I ordered a second bat and just received an email saying they are out of stock. The page for the link confirms it. But there is a silver lining... since they took my order and couldn't fill it they gave me a $5 credit to Overstock.com.

My guess at the low price is that it commemorates home run 583, yet the bat is stamped with "582". A misprint, perhaps?

The 583 HR bats are a series, not a specific milestone If you look at the auto steiner 583 HR bat, you see a picture detailing the his 125 HR milestone. The picture at overstock showing 582 has correct date and pitcher for his 582nd homerun. I would say we will get one in a series. As previous poster said, good price without any engraving.

I think we should all buy one, add an asterisk and "steroids" to the bat, and then send it to McGuire.
