There is a bunch of tyan barebones servers really cheap at Geeks.com.

E.g. GT20 dual xeon for 70, GT20 opteron for 80, quad opteron TX46 for 170. Same code for all "TYAN"

Note that these are rather old DDR 333/400 systems. If you could find cheap CPU's to go with these I guess I could see the point, however I see for example the cheapest 800-series opteron to go for $700 on Newegg...

IMO, very good deal for such a system. Yes they're all a bit dated. But that quad socket AMD was the bees-knees not so long ago, for 170 that's a steal!

I mean you can't even get rack mounted cases + PSUs for this price.

I just bought the heatsinks they are using on the 1U deal for $68 shipped for my 1U case so this is one nice deal.

Uses registered memory which is still a bit pricey, even for old DDR.

I have a few 4U and 5U dual opteron servers that I have been needing to transplant into 1U or 2U form factors. These will do the trick perfectly and were cheaper than just buying replacement cases! I can then sell off the remaining parts on fleaBay.

just received my tyan GT20 B5151 server ($79 after code) this morning.

highly impressed with the product delivered, after my horrorible experience with Surplus "Con"-puters it was nice to see the actual retail packaging of a still sealed in plastic 1u. everything looks brand new, with original tyan box and original molded fit foam inside.

for the price i didnt expect many extras, but they included the full accessory kit, (cables, screws, rack ears, manuals, support media) a rail kit, and a brand new all copper 1U coolermaster boxed heatsink, and as advertised the 4 front drive trays.
