Here are the details.

WayPoint 100/105 is also a PDA compatible with all Windows Mobile (Pocket PC) applications. See this brochure for a more detailed description.

WP100PDA is similar to Mobile Crossing Waypoint 100/105 except that it does not have the CF GPS receiver. This unit includes the PDA, mapping software, and charging cradle. Add a GPS receiver and you will have a high quality GPS system.

The Waypoint PDA already has the mapping software installed with support for a GPS receiver although this model does not include one. Adding a GPS receiver will enhance the mapping application considerably although it will work like MapQuest without a GPS. It can generate routes with turn by turn instructions.

There are three ways to add GPS capabilities.

* A Bluetooth GPS can be used if you add a CF BT adapter. BT software for the CF version sold at this site is already built into the firmware. The BT GPS will be found on COM 8 in the WayPoint navigation software.
* A CF GPS receiver can be added. This will be found on COM 3 in the WayPoint navigation software.
* A serial GPS receiver can be added to the serial port on the bottom of the unit using an iPAQ compatible serial cable. This is likely the least expensive solution. GPS receivers can either be stand alone devices with a serial cable attached or the GPS mouse like devices using a serial output. Note that a iPAQ serial adapter may be required in addition to the device. The WayPoint navigation software will find this device on COM 1.

The WayPoint units are a sophisticated personal navigation system designed to provide smart road navigation/information and guide you to the places you want to go.

* Support Navteq entire US and Canada maps
* 2 million point of interests (restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, golf courses, etc)
* Voice turn-by-turn directions
* Sunlight readable LCD screen (Transflective LCD)
* Special one-button to switch between the navigation mode and the Pocket PC mode
* One button to access the destination menu, the favorite locations, detour selection, GPS status. Fast one-button zoom in and out.
* CF GPS
* Pocket PC Premium Edition with Contact, Calendar, Tasks, Notes, voice recorder, MS Word, Excel reader, etc.
* Run Pocket PC software for hiking, boating, golfing, etc.

This unit does not have GPS capabilities and I would not reccommend purchasing for the GPS capabilities. They seem pretty lame, troublesome and dated. Great deal though if you just want the PDA functions or just a cheap ebook reader.

They were originally around $350.00 big ones which is ridiculous.

There was talk of Mobile Crossing going out of business and support may be limited and I would be very wary of purchasing any maps from Mobile Crossing.

These were sold even cheaper new a while back by the same company. I think $39.95 if my memory is correct. I got one at that time. I use none of the GPS functions but just use it as a PDA and it works great. Fit and finish are not quite as nice as higher end PDAs but for the price I'm thrilled.

Pretty useless as GPS (no BT), but maybe $50 for a refurb 400MHz 64MB Pocket PC is not bad...

Runs on WM 2003.

I would buy one if it can be upgraded to WM5.

I agree I tried to stress that in my post and streess it again. Seems from what I read that map loading is a Pain in the butt also.

Still think it's pretty hot just for the PDA. I broke my old HP Jornado and couldn't touch a used one for less than $60 on eBay

What is the difference?
I don't know much about Windows Mobile but the one I have works on Vista after upgrading WM

this is not hot because v got the new one for $30 using the old deal.
this unit does not come with maps. if only comes with map software. u need to buy the map to use it. all the extra bells cost a lot.
BT adapter or wifi adapter are pretty expensive. the SD card slot works only with their software (I think).

That is why I stressed that the GPS features should be overlooked. I don't even have GPS it in my title. I also recommended not purchasing any accessories.

Its a cheap PDA ebook reader for me, bottom line.

BTW It has a Compact Flash slot and the manual states and can be used with any othe CF add-ons

No offense but this deal is pretty lame, I purchased one a while ago with gps cf module but I never like it, ended up selling it to somebody and making some profit. Save 50 bucks for a hacked iphone/ipod touch, nokia n800/n810 or eeepc instead.

I picked up two of them last time and they work fine as a PDA and for email as well as internet access and email using a compact flash wifi card. For the most part, backup batteries do not work, so if the main battery dies, you need access to your PC to restore most of your data ( it does come with an onboard backup program, but if you have too many contacts, backup fails before backing all of them up). Add the free TCPMP program and you have a portable video player as well. Bottom line, if you can find a cheap CF wifi card (try searching for Canon K30225 on eBay - that's where I got one of mine), I doubt you'll find a better deal on a portable wifi capable device.

Gee, could you point us to a time machine so others can get that deal as well or a comparable deal that is better than this one TODAY? Just because you bought it at $30 in a one-time long expired deal doesn't mean that $50 now is not a good deal.

where do you guys find the tech specs for it?
like the OS, how much memory it has, whether it has another SD slot?
i already have a Holux CF GPS card so this PDA might be a good deal for me..

The difference between WM2003 and WM5 is like the difference between Windows 95 and XP. The driver models are different, so newer hardware may not work in it. A lot of software are writtne for WM5 and won't work on WM2003.

The difference between WM5 and WM6 is minor though (kinda like XP vs Vista).

From my research, it seems there is no way to flash it to WM5, so I will pass.

this is for refurb one and not a new one. get your facts correct. if u r so desperate to get some thing ok it is fine for you that does not make this a hot deal.

you can do more than that. my kids use it to play lot of games. it is an operating mobile PC FYI.

my comment was this is a refub unit and $50 seems higher for the specs.

I know but I actually use mine for reading e-books and jotting notes 90% of the time. Have played a little chess once in a while. It is definetly full featured though a little dated. My main point was just ignore the GPS stuff, it will not work well by what I have read.

The 200/205 is at the site also (refurb) for $95 shipped. It looks like it includes the BT adapter and GPS receiver. Don't know about the quality of the GPS stuff in these to know whether or not it's worth another $45. It still may be that the PDA only version is the better deal.

Hello, I also have bought a K30225 canon cf wlan card but I got no drivers from the seller. Do you have a driver you can mail or do you have a link to download a working driver?
Greetings,
Mark.

I believe I used the drivers for the CWB1000 802.11B Wireless CompactFlash Card I think it was the Pocket PC2003_Dell_X5 drivers. If the PDA prompts you for the name of the network card in the socket, enter "prismnds" you may have to do a soft reset or remove and replace the card a couple of times.
