nice deal thank OP

- now where are all those TD haters?

They mainly come out when there's a rebate involved. TD has a horrible history with rebates but general consensus seems to be that they've improved. I can't begrudge those that have been burned though. There's no rebate with this but shipping is high at around $25 for Massachusetts. No tax and cheap base price still make it a fair deal for me. It's tough to find a reasonable basic computer shipped at this price point.

Any of you computer gurus know if you can swap out the processor for an X2?

In for 1 - pretty decent deal

I just bought one of these 3 weeks ago for $250 from Computer Geeks. It is a nice machine. I swapped out the 1 gig of RAM for 2 gig (Newegg had OCZ 2 gb for $19 after rebate). It does have a PCI-Express slot for a better graphics card vs the on-board. This is for my daughter's AutoCAD and Adobe Illustrator classes and works very well.

Beware of eMachine! We (my wife and I) had one plugged into a spike protector and used the switch to power up the unit. Big mistake! When we did that the power supply was fried!! It turns out that eMachine does not have any way to protect the power supply from power surges! No fuse or thermal protection of any sort! Nor would they repair or replace the unit under warranty! No more eMachines for us. Ever!!!

I have bought about 10 eMachines for my business and they work fine for what I need them for. I typically end up buying about 1 computer a month and I have found that in general the cheapest name brand computer I can find works well for me. I am however running older software in general.
I just ordered my second $199 one on this offer. The first one came in and my employee is VERY happy with it.

Not a bad machine for the price, *BUT*, as fiveholetarget pointed out power supplies are a weak point on most modern desktops. If your running a hipro or bestec power supply in your desktop
your just about guaranteed failure that will damage your hardware. While that may not hold true for everyone, I find in Florida where I have my computer shop lightening plays havoc with those 2 brands of power supplies. buy one of those units, but upgrade to a QUALITY power supply and all
should be good.

Back in stock!!! I bought one on the first round and I am totally pleased with it. I plan to take the next one and transfer to another case and Power supply. I tried to calculate the individual parts from pricewatch and this is at least a 50% savings. Way cool for me, just need a free shipping code now.
