UPDATE3: Adorama back up. Old rebate form (with high amounts) still up...
UPDATE2: THere seems to be two different rebate forms out. And Adorama is down for maintenance...
UPDATE:
Thanks to Highpoint for pointing out that you can do better than Adorama at BuyDig HERE. The Sandisk Extreme III 16 GB Compact Flash is $169.95 and you get $90 back for one, $190 for two and $300 for three. Rebate form here That makes it less than $70 per 16 gig card.
Thanks to Aarrggimapirate for pointing out that you can get the 8Gb card for $35 at Adorama (still).. In fact, you can get it for less than $22 if you buy three ($160 rebate on three). Which SteveDuke2003 correctly points out is $2.71 per GB. This is the real deal here!
SteveDuke also points to Rob Galbraith's speed tests which are considered the source for real world test for cards in various cameras. Does speed matter? We know size does, but given the buffer in many cameras today, speed is irrelevant in camera for most users (who do not take really long series of shots). However, it is relevant for all of us when we download to the PC.
Lots of other cards rebated too, and there are many vendors who offer the same deal (all listed on the rebate form).
Who needs a $16GB card, you say? Anyone shooting RAW with a 10mp or more camera. Of course, nobody really needs it, unless they're professional, but that doesn't mean my want isn't as good as their need.
For good discussions and reviews on digital cameras (SLRs), check out www.dpreview.com. (Full disclosure: This used to be an independent site, before it was bought up by a certain bookstore founded by Jeff Bezos. Still considered to be one of the very best sites out there.)
some people use these cards to make cheap SSD's in laptops. this would be great for them. i paid about this for my 8gb Silicon Power card that i used in my X41T.
That seems like a very good price for a 8gb card. It states 30MB/s read and write speeds. Is that a good deal?Yup! I did a quick look and couldn't find it cheaper.

highpoint said: better price HERENotice that the part # for this one is the same as the cheaper version at Adorama, which aren't specifically on the rebate form. I had already ordered from Adorama, so I missed out on a few bucks, but I've always had awesome CS from Adorama so I'm not too upset

Thanks OP. The 8gb card for $35 is about what I spent for a fake one on eBay!

hummm when did they raise the rebate amounts? promo 52999 from sandisk had the 8gb with a $25 rebate a couple of days ago, now it is listed as a $40 rebate. Check out the rebate form on pricegrabber.com the only difference is the amounts. Guess they were not selling enough cards with the lower rebate amounts.

You're probably looking at their previous promo. If you go to buydig, you'll still see both forms.
I'm still confused. On Adorama there are two 8 GB ones, one rated at 20 MB/s which is on the rebate form but other rated at 30 MB/s is not on the form. So, is it safe to buy the 30 MB/s one even if it's not on the form? What are others doing?

Hard to say. It's a little YMMV, but Sandisk has bee nfair with rebates with me earlier at least.
I was looking for the best price on a 4gb Extreme IV CF card. $34.00Here and here.

This is from Rob Galbraiths site:
"In early 2008, SanDisk revamped its Extreme III CompactFlash line. The cards marked "Extreme III (2008)" in the table feature a redesigned controller and faster flash memory than previous Extreme III. The new Extreme IIIs can be identified from older Extreme IIIs by the "30MB/s" labeling on the card and packaging of the new version."

Did anybody notice the difference of the manufacturing part number on Adorama's product page and the rebate form?
The one listed on Adorama's page is: Mfr. Part: SDCFX3008GA31 It is different from the one listed on the rebate form.

Adorama shows the 8gb flash with this #Mfr. Part: SDCFX3008GA31
I don't see that # on the rebate page???
Thanks. It is also my concern here. Don't want to risk $160 rebate due to the MFR number mismatch.

nope it was this promo, same date range, they must have just sweetened the offer for the 8 and 16gb cards. Look at the rebate on pricegrabber and the rebate amount for the 8 and 16gb cards.

this was just posded on the other thread about this:
Heads up:
Promotion 5299 shows two different pricing structures / rebates. I don't know which one is correct yet:
I got the rebates from the last round. The only thing I don't like about these rebates are that they come in the form of a Visa prepaid credit card. You cannot charge over the amount of the balance on the card and then pay the difference, like you can on most gift cards. It will simply reject the transaction. In other words, if there is $3 left on the credit card, you need to find something that's $3 or less to charge on it for the transaction to go through.
Smart way for SanDisk to reclaim some of that rebate money back...

Not true. Most stores can split the charge where the credit card only sees a certain dollar amount and the rest can be paid any way. I've used these at stores like WalMart, PETsMART and Best Buy and just told the cashier to charge $x.xx to the visa gift card and the rest to my personal credit card.
Only had a problem one time where the system wouldn't take the gift card at all (we even tried a purchase <$1 and it rejected it). Tried it at the same place the next day and it worked.
