Was looking for a good CF card for my Sony A100 that I recently acquired, and came across this 8gb card. Looks to be a good price taking into consideration the lifetime warranty of Sandisk. I know that the transcend can be had for a bit cheaper, but the fail rate is quite a bit higher. Thow in the free shipping and it made was a no brainer for me.
Just a heads up, the rebate comes in the form of a visa prepaid card.
You also get more back if you buy more.
Buy 2 for $149.90 and get $100 back. That's 2 cards for $49.90, or $24.95 each.
Buy 3 for $224.85 and get $160 back. That's 3 cards for $64.85, or $21.62 each.
Also: I own the A100, and I have a 2gb card. Unless you are planning on shooting in RAW (most people do not) or plan on keeping all your pictures on your card for a while, 2 GB is more than enough. 4 GB would be overkill (unless you are shooting 3,000 pictures in a single shooting, like going to a baseball game and taking about 8-10 pictures per pitch). The battery dies before you can fill a 4gb card!

I do shoot in RAW, so I can have better controll when editing my photos in photoshop. Average battery life is about 700 shots (as stated in the manual). I get about 130 shots in RAW on my 2GB. I would like to shoot in RAW + JPG for easier browsing. An 8GB card should give me about 520 shots in just RAW. That leaves me plenty of bettery. If all else fails, I just pop in the extra battery I purchase.

Well... I've seen Sandisk failing quite a bit too. but I gotta admit... Sandisk advertises very well so that people feel they are getting the only indestructible, super fast card in the market. (Extreme III is only about 133X).
On the bright side, I got my last round of rebate ($110 in Visa prepaid card) very quickly.

The linked card's ID is SDCFX3008GA31, while on the rebate form, it says the ID for 8GB Extreme III CF card is SDCFX38192/SDCFX3008GR. Any thoughts about that?

Considering Adorama is advertising the rebate under the card, it would be false advertising if the rebate did not apply to the linked card for $35.

I want to use this card with my PDA. I would love to have a higher capacity card
I already got on this deal for SD card, and got the rebate in card quickly. But I need some CF card as well.. Is there a limit on number of submission on this rebate?

I see no limit to the number of submissions, only the number of cards per submission.
You may wan't to call the number on the rebate to verify. 1-888-701-7637. Or send them and email sandisk@web-rebates.com.

I'm using 8GB Extreme III, but now I'm upgrading to 16GB. For RAW, 8GB is too small...

Yes, so I got three 16GB cards, and six 8GB cards.
Just a note about sandisk prepaid visa cards they give in the rebates. They might NOT work at: - gas stations for gas (since the authorization amount is higher than rebate usually) - bars / nightclubs ... i tired at multiple bars but was always rejected - smaller retail stores (indie stores) where I also had my card rejected
The card now has a $2.08 balance that I cannot seem to spend anywhere.

This is the old version (20MB/s), the new version is cheaper and faster (30MB/s).
Don't worry about the rebate - I got my rebate of last time. You'll be fine with either one, so why not buy the new version?

Pay your cellphone bill, then you'll make it to $0, at least I did that each time.

Goto Home Depot. Tell them to put 2.08 on the card, and then pay the rest cash.

Thanks OP. And thanks also for putting your comments in my earlier thread.
This other thread has the besat deal for the 16GB version. I followed OP's advice and bought the 8GB though.
i got in on this before it expired last time, and the card was the new, faster speed cf (16gb version). now i need a secure digital card, but the deal for the 4gb version isn't as good as it was last time...still not bad at $15 for three (after rebate) but i only need one...

BTW, people do still own non-DSLRs that use CF, but I would image that most are limited to 2GB or smaller.
FWIW: I called the number on the rebate center about the discrepancy in the part number for the $35 newer model one (rebate form lists SDCFX3-8192/SDCFX3-008GR while the part number at Adorama is SDCFX3008GA31 [note the GR vs GA]) and the guy said that that a lot of people have been calling in about that and to just send it in and it would be ok. I did order the newer model 30MB/s $35 one.
Only $1.60 for faster shipping too.
Also: Adorama is a 3% ca$hback merchant at CashBack.com. I also get 1% back from my credit card. After these come through, it should be $18.65 each for 8GB Extreme III CF cards, which is a good deal in my book.

Is this still working? I noticed that the Adorama site was down this afternoon for maintenance and now I cannot get any of the links in the thread to work.

I saw on eBay the san disk Extreme IV 4gb selling for about as cheap as Adorama was, after the rebate. I am always leery of rebates, but since i see you all getting them I might try to buy the next card there. The rebate I think was till the end of September and I am waiting for my card to come as the seller said, 10-20 days delivery. I wish I had seen this site earlier and would have bought it thru Adorama. I plan to use my CF card for Ready Boost on my PC with Vista and then hopefully it might work on my Treo 750.
