Nice find for a cheap DL DVD burner. Uses EIDE too so you dont waste a SATA port.

Good job OP. Green for you.

Won't let me check out. Not a good sign.
Edit
NM, I refreshed, and did a search on the product and it worked. Never heard of Emprex, though. $6.44 shipping kind of cools it a bit, too.

shipping is about $7.00

$20.00 rebate to save about $2.00, it is the lowest price, but not really worth the hassle of a rebate when you can get a 18X dvd+-RW for like $23.00 at Newegg, zip zoom fly had one for $25.00 shipped last week, and Newegg.com had 1 for $19.00 shipped last week too.

and has a 20X for $20.99 shipped right now. so to save $4.00 you have to do a $20.00 rebate, def not worth it.

I agree. 17 dollars total after rebate is questionable when I can get a 20X and by a company I can trust for less than 25 dollars delivered with no rebate. I have had too many burner drives in the past by no-name companies that were nothing more than a waste o' cash (cd/dvd coasters anyone?). When it comes to burners, not all are created equal. Granted this could be a rebranded drive (and most likely is), but rebranded from who?

An I/O MagicSpin DVDRW drive I bought a few years back ended up being an Emprex. Has worked great, no complaints.

The Emprex SATA one from the Fry's 4th of July sale ending up being a Sony/NEC Optiarc model, pretty nice actually.

BEWARE. FRYs will only refund the purchase price. They won't refund the shipping. Even if the item comes to you damaged.

I ordered a RAM upgrade from FRYs a couple of months ago. After a couple of weeks I had to phone DHL and put a trace on my package. They shipped it in a padded envelope. It arrived when I wasn't at home, so when I opened the package I found the part had been crushed and several memory chips crumbling off of the circuit board. I had to arrange for the shipping back to FRYs. They only refunded the purchase price. I'm out $11.00 in shipping charges and a bunch of hassle. Still need a RAM upgrade...

Now that I agree with. If I could buy this in a store, it would be worth taking the chance on. For approx 12 dollars after tax....Unfortunately no Fry's in my area.

Got two of these at Frys on earlier promotions. Submitted rebates online and mailed in. No hassle at all. Great drives and very good compatibility. Haven't tried writing yet but reading is awesome. I have been using one of these to back up over 500 DVD to 2TB HDD. Very few problems. Good deal.

And, the Egg will have an Asus for $21, shipped, starting tomorrow. Newsletter will have free shipping promo code.

I got one of these sometime ago for $20 AR, it's a really good Sony/NEC. Don't need one now although I would've caved in anyways if I could've bought one for in-store pickup (it's not available).

The Optiarc AD-7190s can actually be cross-flashed to LiteOn DH-20A3s!

The AD-7190S is an SATA drive. This is EIDE. This cannot be the AD-7190S.

I pay tax at the egg, so, with shipping, this is a solid 4 dollars cheaper than any decent burner that I've seen in quite some time. Shoddy homework kills the deal.
