OK this deal is not going to blow the doors off or anything, but right now this is the best deal I can find on a highly rated GPS navigation Pocket PC application with full North American maps. I know it mentions the iPAQ 910 and HP, but honestly they do not seem to require a proof of purchase of an HP Pocket PC.

20% discount on ALK's CoPilot Live 7 GPS navigation software - $79.95

Looks like a very sweet deal!!
The ipaq listed has built in GPS...though I don't think this would be an issue with a non-integrated gps PPC's.
Should be able to use a bluetooth GPS receiver..

I forgot to mention explicitly that the cheapest shipping was FedEx Ground for $12. The next shipping option was $14 for USPS Priority.

Is this light years ahead of Google Maps and Live Search? Both offer gps mapping, and they're free. They're more geared towards on-foot mapping, though, since there is no voice feedback. Perhaps this one is better in the car. Even still, Google Maps has gotten me everywhere I've wanted to go, and it integrates Google's massive search engine which has proven to be invaluable.

I have actually read some reviews that said on a Pocket PC Microsoft's Live Maps is much better than Google's offering. I think it mostly has to do with performance difference due to the fact that MS's runs on the native CE kernal and Google's runs on Java.

Both services provide only BASIC functionality (but you gotta love those satellite image maps) and both REQUIRE a constant data connection (as far as I know). So if you are like me and you use just a T-Mobile ToGo Sim (prepaid) in your Pocket PC / Smart Phone and you refuse to pay for a data plan then an app like this is really the only option for you.

Thats right, this software gives turn by turn notifications (and speech, I think), while google maps just gives you a list of directions as you said.

Does anyone know any reason that Garmin Mobile XT can't run on a non-phone Pocket PC? Because I've got it on my Treo 800W and it doesn't appear that there's anything stopping it from running on anything else (it respects the system GPS settings), and it's only $80 or so from Amazon including the latest 2009 Navteq maps. YMMV.

wish there was a trial version of this, so i could test it out. I have a sprint HTC Touch, and the update they just brought out enables the wifi.
