That lens is an old POS. Worse than the standard kit lens, which also sucks.

As someone who's looking for a cheap SLR, I haven't seen camera so highly rated for so cheap. Can someone explain why this deal is "crap" or where to find other presumably "hotter" deals as alluded to above?

The Rebel XT is a nice camera. I have one myself.

But do yourself a favor and don't buy it with this lens. Get yourself a body wherever you can find one, like eBay, and then buy the 18-55mm IS lens for $170. Or pick up an 18-55mm II lens (the original kit lens, it's also a POS but much better and more useful than the 28-90mm III) secondhand for $50 or so.

FWIW i sold mine for 375.00 still better than this deal and bought an Xsi off eBay from a us dealer for roughly 145.00 extra after the 25% + 10%

btw you can buy the IS lens for cheaper than that...about 100.00 if you get lucky

on eBay...i saw one go for about 120 a few days ago and last week some time i saw one go for 90 and another for 110...

i might sell my IS lens if i get an 24-300

274 here sold it for 375.00 which is about all its worth, and that's with the canon lens not the crap lens these people are selling.

No its not...This deal sucks...the lens they are including ok if it is indeed a canon as pictured...granted the kit lens is crap too. The XT is a good camera for a starter camera...but not for this price. Especially with the numorus XT deals out there. I said this deal sucks based off price alone and what your getting for that price. And fwiw you can have the best gear on the planet. The picture is in the photographer not the camera. With that said this deal still stinks. and really the only saving grace may be the lens if its an ef 28-90 then at least you can take it with you.
