XBOX HD-DVD External Player with Remote- Fry's B&M $39.99.

I am aware of "Death" of HDDVD format. But looking at the HDDVD prices now, it's worth spending 40 bucks (8 coffees at Starbucks?)and connecting this to PC to enjoy HD movies. This was available for about $20 sometime ago in Kmart etc...

Another link for using with PC

why the red? can anyone find it cheaper and in stock? i would like to buy a couple as a back up for my hd dvd's but can't find them locally. Newegg has it now for $39.99 plus shipping. i would love to know where i can get it cheaper.

I would say semi-lukewarm but only even that because Transformers, 300 , Top Gun are only avail HD-DVD right now.

Any idea when those 3 movies will be published in BluRay? I need to put my dusty ps3 to use for SOMETHING considering games on it are worthless.

300 is available on Blu-Ray now.. Transformers will be available in the fall..

top gun is also available now in blu-ray

A good backup unit for those that have a decent library of movies and a 360.

Not a bad price if this is all you need. If you're looking to convert this to use in your PC, I'd rather pay the extra and get the combo BR/HD DVD drive. But I also happen to already own both formats, so my needs/wants are different.

I think these were cheaper at Kmart and FYE. Not looking to threadcrap, just pointing out a potentially cheaper price that is worth researching. I have no idea if those deals are still available or if this one is the best one out there.

Why use such a bad deal to try and justify your deal? A coffee at Starbucks is not $5 anyway.

Yeah, they are, but it's extremely unlikely you can find one still in stock. I bought one about 2 months ago at Kmart for $25. I think it went down to $17 at some point after that... maybe even lower since then.
