Seagate ST31000340AS available here.

The price just went down last night, and it has been out of stock recently. I ordered two before the price drop, and they wouldn't give me back the difference but did give me store credit for it.

IMO, this is the best 1TB drive in the sub-$200 range. It has decent performance and a 5-yr warranty, and is a bit quieter than the Hitachi.

These 1TB drives are starting to get competitive with 750gb for $/gb

Anyone know when the 1.5TB are actually going to be for sale?

I moved from 16MB 7200.10 drives to these and the difference is noticeable.

Press release was a month ago, so probably in 30-60 days. Expect a huge premium for a 4x375GB drive tho -- I figured 4x320 = 1.28TB will be cheaper but I haven't seen those announced (probably because they aren't nearly as sexy as 1.5TB).

I'll vouch for the Seagate drive. I have three of these running in a box, temps are low and they are practically silent.

Let me weaken your resolve further with 4% CB at live for ZZF making these $143.99 each shipped (for us non-taxed states)

Remember, there is a limit of 20!

LOL

750GB WD drive I got for 109.99 works out to 14.6 center per GB, this one works out to 14.9 cents. Close enough for me to make the jump!
