Maxtor are the worst drives ever. All maxtor drives I owned died within a year or two, same with everyone else that I know that had one.
Funny, that's my experience with western digital junk. LOL.
I haven't had problems with anything except seagate
what about buying a handful of these and putting them in a raid? Even if they have a chance of failure, at least it won't be catastrophic.
are these prices in store too bec combined with 12% off they may be hot

I have done exactly this. I have 4x in Raid 0 for the fast part of the stripe and raid 10 for the slower part. Works great and raid10 acts as a repository for data that I don't want to lose in a hard drive crash (yes, I have backups..and no, I know that RAID is not a backup)
I'm going to order two more and put them up as RAID 0 in the same box because copying bogs down sometimes because all the spindles are tied together.
can we use the 25 off 75 coupon on them?
then it is going to be hot along with 12% customer appreciation coupon.
do they allow coupon stacking?
160's OOS.
WOW - everyone else you know that has a Maxtor HD died. Dam, thank god you don't know me.
Bought one 160GB and one 300GB SATA. Using $25 off $75 coupon. Also free shipping. final price $59.52 including tax. Thanks OP
Sorry for being a noob but I have a $50 Staples card and can only use in store. What are the chances fo these prices being honored in store?
Well? going fast? Selecting the WD 400 I get:
A system error has occurred. Please continue to Staples.com.

* Go to store
* Go to kiosk
* Place order with in-store payment
* Pay at the cashier with GC

The 12% is in store only - Assuming you have a valid 25off75, you could place the order on the kiosk. However YMMV on stacking (depends on the cashier)

Thanks - and I would end up with it mailing form Staples.com (assuming in stock) - or picking up from store shelf (assuming in stock)?
Now I know you, so when your drive dies, you just let me know. ![]()
