Thanks Did they tell you what needed to be repaired? Only faulty CCD repairs are covered. If the camera is malfunctioning due to something else, it's on you. |

Got the email from Canon saying that my SD230 has "IMAGE OVEREXPOSED" problem (not CCD?) with the repairs fee $99. Does it mean I won't get the free upgrade if I approve this repairment? I don't want to take risk paying $99 and get the same camera back with repairment. Can someone give me suggestion? |

Hi: I have an old A40 that does not work (The selector dial does not turn) and I called and spoke to the Customer Service Department about their Customer Loyalty program. They were very nice and after I gave them my Serial Number off the bottom, they offered the A560 for $89, the SD1000 for $100 and the SX100IS for $125 I ended up ordering the SX100IS for about ~ $144.00 -/+ with tax and shipping. Thanks! |

Did they tell you what needed to be repaired? Only faulty CCD repairs are covered. If the camera is malfunctioning due to something else, it's on you. I got my camera back without servicing.. They said they did not find any CCD issues and to find the real problem it will be $89. I end up saying "No thanks" |

My S410 failed and when I called Canon they reffered me to the CCD program. When I sent in my camera the Service Center sent me a letter indicating it had been accepted for service. I thin got a letter indicating that my camera was not servicable due to the cost to repair exceeding the value. When I called they indicated water or humidity damage. When my camera was returned to me a few days later I was furious that my camera was showing water or humidity damage. Since it was useless I opened it up carefully and low and behold there was no water damage! The enclosed pictures were over accentuated and out of focus. My pictures showed none of the same damage. After weeks of fighting Canon the Customer Service department offered me credit against the purchase of a Canon product - I chose the Canon TX1. I say this only because Canon asked me to send in the S410 camera for CCD free repair. The CCD failure Recall notes failure as a result of operating the camera in a high humidity environment. My take on it is that Canon Japan being an honorable Japanese company dictates the Recall. Some Canon US representative is looking for ways to disqualify service on old cameras. That said they made my life hard but the replacement camera Canon TX1 is amazing. SO's my Rebel XT, and EOS iX, and EOS, AE1, and Canon 1100is. I'm a Canon addict. |

dammit! the sd series are no longer eligible for the loyalty program. i asked about as sd200 or sd400 and he said that the only ones that quality for a rebel xt for 299 are now the S series and G series. the matrix was updated on 1/27/09 according to him. someone may want to update the first post :-/ called again, spoke to someone else, and this is confirmed To reiterate, ANY S-series or G-series camera is eligible for the Rebel XT for 299, but NO SD series are eligible. For the SD series, you can get a sd870 for 140, s5is for 175, or a g9 for275 |

For those that sent your camera in for CCD problem repair/replacement, and Canon told you that you had to pay for the repair, do they charge you for anything if you decline the repair? And will they ship the broken camera back to you? Or do you have to pay for shipping & handling? |

I sent in my broken s230 that had the CCD issue. I had given the s230 about 6 months ago to my 7 year old son and it just starting exhibiting the CCD issue a few weeks ago. I am glad I remembered reading this thread and knew I should send it back to Canon. We just received a refurb S790is from Canon as a replacement. My son is very happy! |

By the way, while my camera was away @ Canon I purchased the new 1100is ~ $140 and am stunned by the quality of the camera. This little camera has amzing Image Stabilization for zooming in to 12x. Personally I did not want a camera with more than 4 mega Pixels but now that I see the image clarity with Image Stabilization I love it. |

What's the point of paying $275 for a refurbed Canon Rebel XT and dealing with sending your other camera in? Adorama always has the Rebel Xti refurb for $299. |

If it's a canon refurb with 18-55 lens from Adorama with a canon 6 month warranty, then the XTi is a better deal. I checked the Adorama site, but didn't see any refurb XTis for $299. |
