XTI is OOS, and was body only.

Thanks, this program is awesome!

I found an old PowerShot A310 in my drawer...it's at least 5 years old. It actually has a broken lcd, but since it was one of the cameras affected by the fault ccd sensor, I tried sending it in. They emailed me a prepaid UPS shipping label and I sent it in. I got an email today stating that the repair has been completed and has been shipped Fedex 2-days.

I wonder what camera they're going to replace it with? My old camera was probably not even worth repairing, but I suppose it's possible they'll just send it back to me repaired.

Either way, I'm happy and it didn't cost a penny! The camera will be shipped by Tuesday so I'll report back letting you know what I got.

I just powered up my trusty a620 and it's officially broken. It powers just fine but NO display whatsoever, it takes blank photos! Any idea what I can do on the budget here?

Just called and confirmed there's probably a stuck shutter internally in my camera, have 3 options, a580 $75, sd1000 $100, and sx100 IS $125. It sounds like the sx100 IS would be my upgrade, it just seems to be a generation or 2 behind current cameras.

Do a search. At the offer prices you obtained, you can guy a brand new Canon.
A590 $75
SD1100

You were really a loyal Canon user if you would buy those refurbished ones offered by Canon. That's a main reason I didn't bump this thread until today.

The SX100 IS has a 10X optical zoom, which is important for some types of photographs. That's why I got one from the Canon Loyalty program...

I sent my a75 in for this program and they sent it back to me fixed like new. That's good enough for me. I was amazed that they fixed the camera for free since it's well over 4 years old. I hope my G10 and 50D get the same kinds service.

???? I believe the a75 is on their list of recall.

They sent me an estimate for $109 to "fix" my S400...the screen had lines going across and was blurry, but they said that blurry didn't = distorted...so not CCD issue...oh well...

Edit: It was worth the try, but they were pretty rude about the whole ordeal...so may look at a different brand after all...I already own 3 Canons besides this one...

Canon repaired my S410 for free. The symptoms included a pink band (they called it "dark purple") across the top of every image, pink (instead of white) highlights in many areas, lines across a few of the images, and one case where the image looked like a wiggly TV screen. But the image was still tack-sharp, not at all blurry.

FYI, the fine print in the paperwork that came back with the repair says that the repair is not covered by the warranty and accordingly is provided as a courtesy only, "as is" and without warranties of any kind.

Are there any new trade-ups now that PMA is over and new models announced? Are the trade-up options still the XT and G9? I was hoping to hold off on my S3 repair until Canon updates either the trade cameras or pricing matrix. Thanks in advance to anyone who might know.

called in to tech support regarding S410 CCD sensor problem.

they gave a case no, with which I had to call into the 866 number in the OP.

did this at 11.30PM EST!!!

I cashed in on an SD890IS for $150 about a month ago (delivered total was $170.80). I'd say this camera was at the poorest end of factory refurbished quality that I would accept. Looked much more like reseller refurbed or used. A couple dead pixels in the display and numerous scratches on the case. Rep told me "most are overstocks or repackaged units from damaged packaging." May or may not be true, but mine wasn't. The camera they sent me had clearly seen some reckless use. I'm sure I could send this back for an exchange, but what a hassle. If cashing in on this deal you may want to prepare yourself for a less than ideal experience. If you watch for a free shipping deal somewhere you can probably land a brand new one for less than 20% more. I'd say the SD870IS is a better camera from an ergonomic standpoint and a few dollars cheaper.

i wish they would fix my old s80. it only lasted a little more than a year and then the lens got stuck.

I am now a VERY loyal Canon customer. They repaired my a80 for free and sent it back good as new. I'm FLOORED that they even agreed to do it, as the camera had been disassembled (by yours truly) more than once to attempt a repair. Originally I got the dreaded E18 error, so I opened it up to see if I could lubricate the lens assembly...that worked great, but when i reassembled it, the CCD must not have been connected properly since it was just shooting black images. I emailed canon about it, they sent me a prepaid shipping label, I sent it in, they sent it back fixed, no questions asked.

I'm now shopping for an XSi kit...waiting for the right deal, and now i'm not even considering Nikon

Hi, i have a canon sd900 with and error obj. restart camera.

I find it its not a good trade in for any of those models, dont you guys think? I was looking to spend the least and the SD870 for me is not worth it...

It might be better to repair it?

In what rate do they change the models offered?

THanks!!
