Don't buy it, I bought the 27-LED version of it (and other 48-LED lamp) from them, these units use very low quality LEDs, many dead ones, some good ones were greenish tinted and may die soon.

I told Merirline I got them DOA, and they ask me to ship the units back on my own cost, but I have no confidence that the repacement will be any better, so I gave up and throw them away.

probably the typical eBay/china led crap... check out the 238 led flashlights on fleabay, all show

I wouldn't trust a cheap flashlight in a cave...buy a Petzl or the like.

I have the 19 LED model which runs on AAA batts.

I use it for camping and have no complaints thus far. Even without the coupon it's a good deal.

Friends don't let friends buy Meritline LED's...

I would carry a back up at least if your doing anything about going into a cave.

I bought some DVD cases a while back and a LED light that was on their front page. In my case it was a 27 LED light system in the shape of a sunflower. I figured it was only $8 so what the hell. I bought it.

Never again. The light was literally a piece of junk. It is one of those pieces of junk that you need to bang on the counter to work right.

People say the better quality Luxeon or Cree 1W (or 3W) LED headlamps are the way to go vs. one with multiple cheapy LED's. So can someone recommend one? I really want one that runs on 2 AA's.

Trying their 5-LED headlamp for $4.50 shipped.

How would this be for after hours jogging? Could you attach this to a hat so it wouldn't jiggle or would this not work so well for that?

DX has quite a few choices. The folks at candlepowerforums.com consistently give good reviews to this single AA torch but there are many others to choose from.

An alternative to the Meritline headlamp are any of the Zebralights. A bit more expensive but MUCH brighter and better.

EDIT: I missed the 'headlamp' part of your post. this Zebralight runs on a single AA with decent runtime. I don't mind the RCR123's as I already have the batteries and charger and the brightness and run times are great.

In the cheap multi LED lights, the LED's do burn out more often than they should. Some even come already burned out when people get them. How is that a 'buncha crap'? Also most people don't want to bother with replacing LED's. The throw on a single LED light is better too.
