Not as good as FAR, but a single rebate on a good product. Just be sure you haven't used the same rebate offer in the last six months.

Thanks OP. Considering no sales tax at Amazon, this is very close to the FAR price from somewhere like Fry's that charges sales tax in California.

Direct link.

Do you have experience with having same rebate offer paid if its been more than six months? Alot of us purchased this w/rebate from Amazon in Dec. 2007. Anyone tried submitting it again since then?

Edit to say can get the same deal w/ KAV on Amazon right now as well.

My guess would be that if you did rebate offer #4000208 once before, you'll get rejected trying it again with the same name and address.

Double dip opportunity! Go to WWW.ALLREBATES.COM and pre-register for $25 upgrade rebate offer #6000059 (expires 8/31/2008). This looks like it's a different rebate processing company, but both require original UPC, so YMMV.

Edit: Never mind...WWW.ALLREBATES.COM doesn't seem to have any "active" rebates listed any more.

The rebate is specifically for Amazon and lists 2/15/08 to 8/31/08. I would think a December 2007 purchase would not be covered.

I agree...it was probably a different offer number, thus making this rebate safe.

My bad- I didn't even look at the rebate number. They're different so can do it again. Even so, I'll probably pass since not much market for KAV 7 with KAV 8 soon to be widely available.

Hi, I am just curious, is there a difference between the Internet Security version and the Antivirus version?
Thanks!

Internet Security contains Antivirus as one of its several programs. KIS has more stuff.
That's how most of these work. Norton Internet Security contains Norton Antivirus, BitDefender IS contains AV, etc.

Thanks!

Internet Security contains the AntiVirus plus a firewall (and possibly a few other things).

Hopefully version 8 will be a free upgrade for version 7 users. Version 7 was (is) a free download if you have version 6.

Internet Security has Antivirus, Anti Spyware, Firewall, Anti Spam, Parental controls and a couple other things. The version for single PC (KAV) is antivirus which includes anti spyware.

As far as I know it will be free to upgrade to version 8 if you have version 7.

how come there are so many horrible review on Amazon? 50 reviews with 1-2 star rating is too high to consider it as a good product.

Is Kaspersky IS really that bad?

I bought Internet Security the other day from another vendor for $22.98 shipped; I thought that was a good deal but this is of course much better IF you want to fool with rebate. I have a question to those that have used various AV programs. Right now I have CA and it seemed to do okay but thought for the price, I would try the KIS. Do I have to remove the CA before I install and use the new one?

Yes, you can only have one AV product installed at a time. You'll probably have to remove any firewall (like ZoneAlarm) if you have one installed. Kaspersky and ZoneAlarm definately don't play well together.

I've been using Kasperksy AV and IS for a while now, with no problems other than AV not wanting to co-exist in a friendly way with ZoneAlarm (And I suspect that is a ZoneAlarm issue).

I replaced Norton products because they messed up my registry so bad I had to re-install Windows. I've been much happier since putting in Kaspersky. Of course, I'm sure others have differering stories.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Yes, uninstall first. I've used CA before and found Kaspsesky worked better for me. I understand CA has improved since them, but I now run KIS on all the computers I manage and have never had a infection. It doesn't hog resources, but it can take a while to scan a big file when you open it.

BTW, I never buy the renewals. I just wait for a deal like this to come along and reinstall. Sometimes I can just get the new regis number to work with the existing install.

I've been using it for about 7-8 months now on 5 different computers and it has been excellent on all of them. Much better than the competing brands. Most of the low reviews may be attributable to individuals who don't know how to tweak the settings for a smooth and seamless experience.
