Shamefully borrowed from SD. thank you.
Note, you can mix and match this deal.

If you care about having XP Pro Installed, and a Vista Business Upgrade included, rather than a second 22" LCD, it will be cheaper in the end ($714). I'll take a 22" LCD any day though.

My preferred config is as follows:

Start here

http://configure.us.Dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=04&kc=6W300&l=en&m_29=Q1YOS&oc =brcw502&s=bsd

Pick the following

Free upgrade from 19inch E198WFP TO 22inch E228WFP Wide Flat Panel Monitor. [add $115]

Dell 22 inch Widescreen E228WFP Analog Flat Panel Display [add $180] <-- Second LCD monitor

Add to cart

At checkout, apply coupon L$3Z0GV4389?F2 for $150 off $799+ Vostro 410

Choose 3-5 day shipping, for free shipping.

Final math: $894 - $150 = $744 + free ship. Taxes apply, unless you are the lucky one living in a tax-free state, or have a tax-free form on file.

Seems like a good deal monitors are about 200 apiece making the desktop 350. Green

That cards pretty weak guys... if you intend to game on dual monitors don't expect much.

Fair price for everything although the actual parts are all bottom-of-the-barrel aside from the decent (not great though) RAM (800's) and good processor. The video card will SUCK at everything but the most basic text apps and net browsing... can it even handle two of those LCD's?!?! Even the HD is weak at only 80 - maybe Dell liquidation.

Yes, the card is worthless for games - but what games, exactly, support dual monitors without heaps of fail? Even though some games let you, you still end up with a damn break in the middle of the play area. Not quite ideal, especially for FPSs.

744 - 220 -220 (22' sells on eBay)= 304
for $304 thats pretty darn good deal for Q6600 which sells around 180ish, 1gb, 80g hdd, psu, 128 video, mobo dvd burner, etc...
You will have to upgreade memory and video card anyway.
this one comes with 350 watt so plenty of juice for 8800 gt.
8800gt and another 2 gig upgrade from frys or Newegg for about $ 150 ish.
For around $450 or less than 500 you will have decent machine... imo.

Not too bad, if you can keep it at 799, so 650 after coupon. worth while upgrades where 2gigs for 20 hd to 250 gigs. I dont think the second monitor is worth it for many. then you gotta come up with another 40 bucks of useless upgrades. the beauty of these is a very easy bsel mod to oc the 6600 to 3 ghz, and you have an os, an mb which supports 8 gigs of ram and raid setup. besides, I think the cpu throttles on these so for regular stuff not as much heat is generated. downside is powersupply if you are adding a lot of stuff. I oced one of these with an e4500 to 2.92 ghz from 2.4, and it runs very stable with T of 52 at full load, with stock hs. fan gets loud. took me less than 5 minutes.

Dead - $894 final price, up from $799.

You guys do not factor in $56 plus in taxes for most states. And eBay fees. This only has an 80 gig hard drive and 1 gig of ram.

Apply coupon L$3Z0GV4389?F2 in the cart. $150 discount applied.

I'm still on the fence on this. Its a decent deal if you sell the monitors on fleabay for $200 (after shipping+eBay fees). After taxes and everything, the system ends up being ~$410. Not bad, but you get this price in the Dell Outlet often enough. Those refurbs are usually good as new.

I'm using a 20" LCD from Dell that I paid $650 for. It's amazing how much the pricing changes

20" wide or 20" normal? 22 wide = a wide 19"

24 = wide 20. And they still go for 600ish

If you have a couple months to watch, you can get a Q6600 out of the outlet for $300 or less. I got one for $289 and another for $329. It does happen.
