Frys has the hard disk for $80.

Average deal. Price for 500GB drive has been like this for the last few weeks.
Hey DNGUYEN68...
How 'bout a few links to other $80 500Gb HD's that are Sata 3 with 16mb buffer, Retail box.
This is the best deal without rebates or coupons that I have seen, but I would like to see some of the other ones since you say it has "been like this for a few weeks".
Thanks... ![]()
OEM drives LINK HERE at Newegg (500gb, 16mb buffer) start at 69.99 with free ship (hitachi, Samsung), $74.99 (WD), $79.99 (Seagate).
If you think that retail drives are worth more $; then this is probably a decent deal. I don't believe retail drives have any added value (except a $0.25 sata cable included), so personally I'd go with the oem seagate for the 5yr warranty; or a cheaper hitachi/samsung if the 5yr warranty isn't important.
Not saying this is a bad deal; but not the best 500gb deal for everyone
.
For myself, regardless what = I would go for and external drive.
I have this one from Frys, and it's great.

Good price for what it is. Your lower priced drives are like mixing apples and oranges. But most people don't bother with spec sheets and wouldn't understand them if they did look. 15C difference in designed operating temperature.

Don't OEM Seagates come with a 3 year warranty v/s the 5 years you mention which comes with Retail Seagates?
