Linksys Refurb WRT150N @ Buy.com
$44.24 out the door. Free shipping with no tax for me.

This router is DD-WRT compatible.

They also have other great deals on Linksys refurb routers as seen here Most others are out of stock but particularly interesting if they come back in stock at current listed price are the WRT300N and WRT600N.

This is my first hot deal post and I couldn't find a cheaper price anywhere so if you like it help me get a free shirt.

Instead of Cash Back there is a 5% Buy.com coupon that appears like it will work (did not know about it when I ordered).

1% FatWallet Cash Back Available! (does not work if use coupon above)

* Cash Back available on the purchase (not redemption) of gift cards.
* Excludes purchases made in the Wireless category.
* Use of coupons not found on FatWallet's Buy.com Cash Back & Coupons Page may void Cash Back.

Is this better than the WRT54GL?

it's N versus G ?

This router (with DD-WRT) appears to support N/G/B all mixed together which is nice.

I'd say it is definitely better than the WRT54GL because this one supports N.

I thought draft-n routers could do that right out of the box, simply by alternating between frequencies. Now if you mean actual simultaneous (dual band) transmission, I didn't think DD-WRT can add that feature to a non-dual-band unit. Any network experts want to set me straight on that?

Just an observation. There are a LOT of this particular model in the refurb channel right now---you can find refurbed WT150n's at Buy.com, CompUSA/Tiger Direct, and Amazon, for instance. Have to wonder what that says about this unit.

It might have supported it right out of the box. I didn't check before I installed DD-WRT. The reason I mentioned it is I have seen some routers that only support N or B/G. So if you wanted to use one N device everyone else would need N too which would not be a good situation. I really don't know about the frequencies but my guess is it is alternating. As far as I know this router is not dual-band.

As for why there are so many refurbs I don't know. But I do know that this router has pretty good reviews from what I have seen.
