I have one of these at it works fine. Provides a 1 amp +12v DC socket from a 110v AC wall outlet so you can charge your cell, GPS, or whatever with a card cord indoors. This is as cheap as I have seen it - $8.90 with free shipping for Prime or with a $25 order.

That is only 550ma output, which is not enough for a lot of stuff (XM radios, iphone chargers, etc). The powerline item is nearly double the output current. If you don't NEED the extra current, then there are cheaper ones than $9.89 I am sure.

Seems nice and 9.99 is usually typical price for anything, though with China syndrome it should be little less (philosophical point not for those who want solution/link to low priced one).
about %25 of the stuff i buy from Deal Extreme is DOA or fails withing a week of purchase.
Can someone explain to me what this is? You plug it into a wall outlet and it gives you a cigarette lighter port? Why would you want that?
it's called a dc transformer. i think have a few devices around here with 1amp 12v bricks lol.

Say your bluetooth handsfree kit only comes with a car cord and you want to charge it at home or the office. Or your new GPS may only come with a car cord and you want to charge the battery in the house. Rather than buy an expensive house charger for each (if they are even available) you buy a high power +12v socket and use it for everything.
