great deal..

Nice try OP - not red hot, but I'll give pity green.

FYI, the last drive I purchased from ZZF (2 weeks ago) had somewhat suspect packaging (lightweight clamshell case inside 3/8" thick foam padding banging around a huge cardboard box with no insulation whatsoever).

Newegg isn't much better. It's way past time that these online retailers stop cutting corners in the packaging department. I mean, really, how much does a few handfuls of packing peanuts cost? Or some crumpled up paper? A few cents?

That's the way how manufacturer ships harddrives, absolutely normal. Don't worry

This was also hot Two Weeks Ago.

As I mentioned in that thread, get another 4% back via MSLCB to make these $143.99 each shipped

If you work in this industry, then you know.... that the blame (if you want to call it a blame anyway) should go all the way back to the manufacturers (Seagate, WD, Samsung, Hitachi, etc). Retailers never re-pack anything. They just ship you the package the way they received it from the distributors, whom received it from the manufacturers themselves.

does anyone know when the newer model 7200.12 comes out?
wouldn't the new 1tb be more cooler and efficient (less platters, faster) and probably comparable in price considering 1tb would not be the top tier storage size anymore?

alert mods

The Samsung is the only 1TB drive w/ 3 platters.

Been waiting for a decent deal on a sata 1T drive. The MSLCB bumps it from waiting to reality.

ty OP.

Dropped to 140 shipped.

Ordered 3 yesterday and asked for a $10 price adjustment. Will let y'all know if they honor the lower price and how the overall delivery goes.

Looking forward to stuffing these in my shiny new Drobo FW800 :-D

When I first read this, I thought to myself, "hey, that makes sense," but, upon further reflection, I find that in my instance, ZZF was definitely to blame. ZZF doesn't get massively empty boxes with one single drive in them from the manufacturer. The get a case of padded drives- which they then put in oversized boxes to ship. It's the oversized aspect that puts the drive in jeopardy. If the padded drive actually fit the box (like the ones in the case did), it would be fine, but when you have that much space, it can really get bounced around.

I know it's quite a bit after the fact and everyone probably couldn't care less, but, FWIW, I blame ZZF- big time.
