Sorry for the dumb question, but can I use this to extend a weak signal in my house with an already existing linksys wrt54g router?

Technically it's not N speed. It's between N and G. What's good about it is that it generally has a longer range than G format routers, and it plays nice with N and G ranges, both. So I think it's a bit of a middle ground between N and G. There's a good review of it at CNET.
