But, thats not a fair comparison because your link is for a different model (Acer Aspire One 8.9" Mini Laptop with less memory, smaller hard drive, and different OS) although its $20 cheaper.

For those of us who value the 1GB RAM, 120GB HD, and Windows XP Home OS featured in the Acer Aspire One AOA150-1570, I feel my model (deal) is great.

Besides, I think this is the ONLY sub-$400, full-featured (ample memory and HD space) notebook weighing only 2.7 lbs! And, I think the laptop looks sexy.

good thing to have a look!

I really need a mini-notebook to carry on everyday.

Micro Center's lifetime rating at resellerratings.com is 4.36 out of 10.

Amazon has the identical laptop as in the OP for $414.99,
but they say "usually ships in 5 to 7 weeks."

To this deal I say run away, run away!

Is it the exact same model, a different 8.9" model is on CC's weekly ad. I plan to go there to see how it looks. JR.com has this for $399 as well. It's on preorder.

i wouldn't be worried about ordering from microcenter so long as there's one near you. this laptop is brand new and you never know if something might go wrong or maybe you'll get a lemon (as they're working out the early adopter kinks).

i've never had any problems at all, personally; but i've never had to have an item shipped since there's one right down the road.

as for the Circuit City option. their website only lists the 8gb SSD linux model; however, i've read that the 120gb sata drive xp model has been found at some stores. it'd be worth while to drop them a line.

The knock on the cheaper Acer, with the SSD drive, is that it slow as molasses running XP, but it works well for Linux.

If you want to run XP, stick with the 120GB SATA version.

So far, the 120GB version has been rare as hen's teeth in the USA. Only the MSI Wind is harder to find.

No T-Shirt for you.

I don't understand why this is getting red. It's (IMHO) the best deal out there for an Atom/XP machine. I played with one yesterday in store, and it's a mighty nice machine.

$399 for 1GB/120GB/XP/ATOM is HOT. Only things missing are a 6 cell battery and Bluetooth (internal). If it weren't for the damn Cook county sales tax, I would have picked one up right then.

alert mods

If I had a local store selling the XP version for $399, I'd be sorely tempted.

Or if Newegg had it. MC..not so sure about. Never ordered successfully from them from them.

Anytime I've actually put in an order for something they're advertising, it gets canceled.

Some people also value the solid state drives higher than the hard drives with moving parts. Also, the problem is this model only has a 3 cell battery so it won't run for long. Just something to be aware of. Some of the other micro notebooks have 6 cell batteries with the same size screen and weigh 2.4 lbs even with the added weight of the 6 cell battery.

Seller on eBay, $509 shipped. With 25% Microsoft Live CashBack that's $382, no sales tax either. Beats deal from Microcenter which is $19.85 additional shipping, plus tax for many states.

I picked one of these up from Circuit City a couple of weeks ago around $350 after the AA coupon. It's the Linux version. Runs great and feels solid. The only thing I don't like is the positioning of the mouse buttons. Very uncomfortable.
