But when I use it, it seems that it can only do half of that. It could clean itself even when it's turned off. |

It will use ink even if you never print with it. I use it primarily as a document scanner and an occasional fax. I have not printed more than 40 sheets (black only) and the printer is now out of ink in the three color tanks. It still has black but it will not print if even one tank is empty. It seems that the printer runs self cleaning periodically even if you do not print at all. |

I'm really impressed by Brother's quality & the foresight to allow us to buy generic ink. |

Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that the darn thing "cleans" itself all the time, for no reason (even if you haven't used it.) This uses massive amounts of ink. I actually kept the thing unplugged in order to keep it from using ink all the time because we don't print that often. And then, when it has cleaned itself a few times, you won't be able to print at all because it will have used all of the ink in one of the 4 tanks. You can justify a decision to buy it, and try to feel better about it now. But you will hate this printer. |

CdSlc said:bobn27613 said:the standard Staples reward doesn't provide for free shipping unless the order is over $50.00 Mine is a standard rewards membership that I had opened in store, couple of years back. I haven't bought any item using my rewards membership, so its not like I have a high usage of the membership. I got free shipping for this item, after I had entered the rewards membership number on the checkout page. What is the difference between standard membership and the other membership you mention? No free ship on my end without $50! |
