Green just for posting. Most people just don't care about the posts they don't buy into.

"The Ultimate Steal" is a steal alright. With a .edu account you can get the program for a ridiculously low price, but it's going to cost you $2.40 each time you open MS Office. This 60.00 license only allows you to open the program 25 times. From the MS website:

Eligible students may have free access to Microsoft® Office Ultimate 2007 Trial for a limited amount of time. Each trial provides (1) 25 application launches (each launch of an individual Office Ultimate application is counted as one launch) before the software goes into reduced functionality mode (at which time your software behaves similarly to a viewer, you cannot save modifications to documents or create any new documents, and additional functionality might be reduced); and (2) the opportunity to purchase the following perpetual license for the Microsoft® Office Ultimate 2007 software.

You're much better off using Open Office or paying $100 for the Student and Teacher edition at Newegg or Frys or somewhere.

can you quote where this is from? I know plenty of people who bought this that have NO such restriction... One person I know bought this last year (the ultimate steal) and continues to use it...

A link to where you read this would be helpful...

A quick google search shows a ms mvp saying that the download is a trial, but the 60 dollars you pay buys the license to use it forever:

Whatever happened to reading is fundamental (RIF)? The $60 that a student pays for "The Ultimate Steal" is for unlimited usage by that student. It is the best deal around for MS Office, period. Make sure you read all of the fine print, not just the details that you want to read (or see).

"...students may have free access to Microsoft® Office Ultimate 2007 Trial."

If you read what you posted, you will find that it applies to Microsoft® Office Ultimate 2007 Trial.

If you had continued reading for about 4 seconds longer you would have found the following:

Decisions.

Green for OP cheapest price that I have seen.

However, I still have office2003 and my company is moving to symphony (open office).

For those who don't want to wait on shipping my local Costco (San Antonio, Tx area) has this for $84.99 + tax ($121.99 - $37 instant rebate). I would guess that most Costcos have the same deal.
