Saw these in store today at the Daytona Beach Circuit City. I didn't see them listed online. Model #'s are....

HPT4254 for the 42"

HPT5054 for the 50"

For those that asked, these were new in the box on the showroom floor (1 50", 3 of the 42"). I didn't get one. Seemed like a good deal, but I'm not really looking for a TV at the moment.

I just called a Chicago store and had the guy check his and other store in the area. None left. Looks like YMMV-1 (YMMV really low chance). Nationally at least. Good deal for you though. Worth a try.

Lol, looks like a CC employee in Chicago just got a hot deal on a plasma or 2. Good job.

So what if he called? Im calling stores to see if they have them in stock too, im not gonna drive to every single store sitting in traffic burning gas hoping its in stock when this is very YMMV, this is an old set most places dont carry it.

typical noobie response until he/she realizes that the employee took it for himself.

hmm you're right, every store I called didn't have them in stock, I guess all the employees keep scooping these TV's up after I call and inform them about this deal.

Oh yes wise senior member lowmazda, I shall discard my cell phone, never to perform a inventory check again and bicycle to every store to avert the PLENTIFUL employees who:
1. Are itching for a Plasma TV.
2. Have $600+ lying around (yeah people who work THERE have a ton of cash making $8/hr).
3. Are deal whores and will buy up entire inventories.
Hmmmm... yes all those circumstances are LIKELY. You are too wise dear lowmazda. I humble before your intellect. **cough cough** So sharp are you. Pat yourself on the back.

you forgot two things:
- Resell , very unlikely in a TV
- Uncle Rico, "Hi uncle, are you still looking for a plasma TV?"

The employees have family and friends that snatch these up at the drop of a hat. When you call the store, you ruin it for everyone here.

my cousin from Circuit City just called me up telling me that someone call and told them to look up a TV that was on clearance. He look up stock and had one left, he told me to come down and pick it up and told the other guy on the phone that there is no stock.

j/k

I would have to agree. There is nothing better than asking a know-it-all, minimum wage CSR at CC or WorstBuy the price on a clearance item. They first rattle off the inflated retail price, and when you ask them to scan the item, the smirk quickly changes to pain - PRICELESS. Then you get the last laugh watching them scurry to find any remaining units. Same thing for Staples and OD, although the latter are generally not as arrogant.

Wow nuk78 and joobosauce are not only idiots, but idiots with attitudes!
If you guys took the time to read the FAQ you would know there are ways to get deals and ways to blow deals...you have mastered the means of blowing deals! Why don't you drop the attitude and learn how to do this shiz right.

Getting a plasma @$600 plus employee discount, they can easily sell it on CL or to a friend or family.
If you don't think employees hear about a deal and then keep it for themselves, you are kidding yourself.

I have seen it many times...I got a super deal on the HD and the employees were talking right in front of me that "they need to pull the rest from the cage, so they dont accidently get sold to other customers"

and the rant is over!

Similar example, although it was a Costco video game deal (back when Tony Hawk Project was new, Costco had it for 28 bucks. I bought 5 of them, and at the register, two of the Costco ee's were talking about how awesome the deal was and how they were going to buy the rest of the remaining stock. It does happen.

Of course IT HAPPENS [Mod Edit: Inappropriate content removed.]

How likely is it? Not much. Yeah, yeah, "I've seen it happen once, a couple times, etc. Therefore my perception means it happens 100% of the time."
I have seen people see me pick up a deal and say they will pick it up. I have seen people who show no interest. Usually, it is the latter. I worked at Best Buy. People there are more occupied with their LIVES than being a deal whore like some people here. The likelihood of your scenario is marginal at best. And that probability does not justify me going from place to place to find the deal. I want a deal, but I have more than dealhunting in my life going on. You apparently don't. The opportunity cost of calling vs pedaling around from place to place for the minute probability of some employee taking the deal is worth it. My time is too valuable. On that note, I need to disengage from responding to your unfounded ASSUMPTIONS. But, don't feel lonely, you have ample company.

Don't ya just love New Members that call the store, then have an attitude when told that they did something that probably only screwed themselves? (The answer is "Not.")

Actaully, I didn't need one this time, so I'll pass and let another member get in on the deal

But anyways, thanks for everyone's discussion about whether you should call or not call a store to check inventory on a deal.

Moving forward, please keep the discussion on-topic with the deal mentioned in the OP.

Thanks!

I have the 42" 4254 in my bedroom. Great price for this bedroom TV if you can find it. 1080P in the family room.
