Pretty neat netbook. I just got the Eee 1000h from eBay/live.com for like $400.

120gig is great in this model, but I just played with one at CC and the keyboard is a little too small. I'll stick with the 6-cell eee 1000h...if you don't mind not having BT and long battery life, this is a great deal.

I need BT for tethering w/my E71.

You can get the Aspire One with 8GB of SSD for less, if you're talking about large SSD's then be prepared to pony up. You can get a OCZ Core 2 64GB SSD and replace the 120GB for <$250 if that's your cup of tea.

A couple of things, I've read, The Ram is 512 on board and 512 in slot, and the slot is hard to get to. so with 512 on board max Ram is 1.5GB. I had read that the key board is pretty good, I'll have to see if there's a comparison to the eee1000.

I don't see a problem for people who need bluetooth, they have little adapters now that I'd bet you could just leave in, even in your case. $10 or so...

I'm planing a long bike trip and allowing @ 4lbs for net book, power supply and 3-256gb drives, I'll keep a linux bootable SD card around incase of drive failure. Silly but I'll also carry an n800 as an MP3 player.

Thanks OP, I've had this backordered for a couple weeks never thought about the MS live CashBack deal (I'm going to loose my Fat Wallet Card if I'm not careful!) I called and checked on stock cancelled my order and reoreder through MS live!

Just some added info for people interested in this, it comes with a 3 Cell battery so you'll get pretty bad battery life. However you can purchse a 6 Cell battery. NCIXUS has 6 Cell batteries for $118.04 (not in stock yet). Yes it's quite costly but if you factor in that price, you'll still come under the price of a EEE PC 901/1000H/MSI Wind and have a 3 cell battery to boot.

They also have this model listed, with a 6 cell battery for $418.39 (not in stock yet) which would be an excellent price and more along the lines of where these should be priced at.

Also to note, I know the 8gb model has 2 SD card slots, not sure about the 120gb model but that allows a lot of expandability options and allows you to leave one card in for storage while using the other to read your SD cards or you can use both as storage. So if you want pure solid state storage then you could pick up a couple of 8gb cards and stick them in there.

I'm typing this on my 8GB SSD Aspire One, so here's my view.

The Linux/8GB SSD version is great if that's what you want. It has a SDHC card slot that allows you to expand the "hard drive" seamlessly. I have a 16GB (technically unsupported) card in there and it shows the full 24GB as my "hard drive."

The RAM is VERY hard to get to. With Linux, the 512MB seems to be more than adequate. I'd recommend this machine for one of two audiences:

1) It does exactly what I want the way it is, so I plan not to make any changes to it.
or
2) I love to take things apart and don't care about the warranty, and I want to try hacking all kinds of cool stuff.

If you're inbetween (I want more than the standard config, but I'm not teh hax0r,) then you should probably look at the MSI Wind.

Personally, I like the 512MB/8GB/Linux version that I have. The marginally smaller keyboard and side-button trackpad take a little getting used to, but otherwise, it's a great "throw it open and get on the net" computer.

The horizontal and vertical scrolling can be turned off in software. The unit you used probably had it turned off.

Side note, it also supports circular scrolling (kinda like scrolling on the iPod wheel)
