this will be my first acer purchase. I've known a couple of people that had acer laptops for about a year or so. Nothing had gone wrong yet. At this price though, I don't expect no mac pro quality. |

Let us know how this works out for you. I was thinking orders would ship 1-2 days after placed as it says on the website. Checked this morning and it shows shipped with tracking number!!! So ordered Sunday and it shipped Monday. Nothing to worry about after all. But, it now shows out of stock for new orders. |

I think it's great quality and haven't had a single problem with it, and pleae someone correct me if I am wrong but I think they are the #1 or #2 selling notebook. To me they are the Hyundai of notebooks. They weren't that great when they first came out but are now matching quality of the best out there. |

Sorry for what may be a dumb question but I am not a fat wallet pro. Is there anyway of knowing how long this 12% CashBack will be good for? |

namlook said: The other side of it is for many people it would be really inconvenient to carry a charger when the notebook fits in your hand since it is the size of a traditional organizer. But everyone is different. Some people always have a bag with them. I personally want to carry mine without accessories. That is a good point. I have seen some huge laptop adapters from the manufacturer. EDIT: Found size of adapter is 3.5" x 1.3" x 1", so it is fairly small. That works out to be about the same size as a deck of cards cut in half, or 1/2 the size of my cell phone (PPC-6700). |

To me they are the Hyundai of notebooks. They weren't that great when they first came out but are now matching quality of the best out there. Acer is #3 in global PC notebook shipments, after HP and Dell, respectively, and trailed by Lenovo in fourth place. Reference |

(Personally I never buy a laptop without touching it.) But I do own a new Acer Extensa, and the build quality is good. About on the level of Dell Vostro, in my mind (their small-business series). Acer seems to have improved considerably in the quality dept. over the last couple of generations. Most people who complain about them are referencing models built 3-4 years back, not the newer ones. |

Order still in 'Submitted' status. Have had no problems with a couple of Acer laptops I have been using since 2006. The third one I purchased at Wallyworld last TG, has a weird problem with the scrollpad that's not neatly located. If you fingers hover over the keyboard while typing, it works fine. If it slightly touches the chassis, the scrollpad picks up and the cursor shifts to an arbitrary point, which is very frustrating. Besides, it crashed once and I have not been able to yank the back cover off to upgrade RAM. |

Well It's here, I hsve mixxed opinions about it, Things I do NOT like; AC adapter is small it's self, bigger than the EEE's wall wart but it's a stand alone adapter that take a standard heavy three line cord. It's also 19 volts! I was figuring a 15 volt for charging current, but this claims to use as much as 1 amp at 120 volts or 120 watts! I'm sure it'a less as out put is 1.58 at 19 volts (@30 watts) I do like that it has a right angle plug into the lappy... It comes with XP SP3, and lots of bloatware, yahoo tool bar will be first to go, I use google on my regular lappy but with won't load here as I want as large a window as possible, I'll drop tabs as well. The browser is set up to enlarge some copy, I'll have to figure out how this works but it's not a bad feature, but I could stand for the type to be a bit smaller, perhaps half way between where it is now and normal, BTW the reply window appears standard. I don't like the touch pad, I had my first touch pad 4 years ago and hated it, but realised that with in 6 months I was using it to do some complicated photoshop work, rather than plugging in my wireless mouse, or penpad. I doubt this will change on this one though, as my thumb doesn't find a natural resting place on the left button, and I have big hands and long fingures. Typing, not too bad, I'm a touch typing wantabe so perhaps I shouldn't say anyting. I learned to touch type as a kid, but fell out of practice and now watch my hands a good bit, but often find that I don't need too, already I'm looking away and finishing lines. Speakers? what speakers? all 3 volumes turned up, (Fn up arrow, Media player, and audio speaker icon lower right turned all the way up I'd rather listen to my N800!!! Just bad, no other word for it. The good.... Screen's nice, actually turned my brightness down a bit, but it's a gray day. viewing angle is great!!! It does have both SDHC slots, I'm curious if it will boot from the memory expasion slot or if it's disabled, GUess I will be able to boot off of the other SD slot into Linux and the expansion slot will be a nice storage place if it's disabled. The USB didn't flinch at my USB hard drive, though it comes with a dual plug cable it only needs the power from one connector, This is a .55 amp dive, I have a 1 amp drive at home I'll check out later tonight. Not a bad little unit all in all. seems pretty responsive, I'll load Photoshot 6 on it tonight and give it some real test compared to my Gateway1.83? celery w/1.5 GB of ram! The build seems to be great! After being up and running for 2 hours it's just slightly warm on the left side, the fan has been runningsince about 10-15 minutes on, I turned on a room fan and can't hear it so I don't know if it's been cycling on and off, but I've been on line and playing music off of an external Hard Drive for most of that time. |

Mine came late yesterday as well. Yes, keyboard is standard English. Ordered this from J&R. Touch pad is fine for me. I usually use the touch pad itself for clicking, not the pad buttons, and this works as well as any laptop with that method. The times that I did use the touch pad buttons, I had no problems or issues. Worked fine for me at their locations. So far only completed initial setup and personal configuration. Using Ghost to save drive image, and also each partition image, just in case I wish to go back. Will run some tests, then re-partition into several, and install XP Pro w/sp2. Some things I hope work well are DVB-S USB sat, plus Nascar Racing 2003 season (with external monitor). This is smaller than I thought it would be. That is a good thing. I have a 17" Dell laptop for primary use. The Acer Aspire One will be used primarily for travel around the US on motorcycle. It can fit in the wifes purse. |

Mine showed up in CashBack live right away, or within minutes of ordering on Sunday. EDIT: added some 3d results. 3dm2k1se = 2980 1024x600 32bit Yes, Nascar Racing 2003 Season sim works fine 1024x600 32bit. |

....The build seems to be great! Hmm...sound like a typical Acer to me. I am used to all of these issues things, being an Acer Extensa owner. Here some tips I've gleaned from other Acer experts: 1) 19 volt adapter is standard for all current Acers. I like the right angle connector too. 2) Unfortunately, bloatware is standard for all current Acers. What we Acer folks do is immediately make a backup disc and re-install the OS WITHOUT the boatware. It's the easiest way to get rid of the bloat and makes the system a lot more responsive. 3) Disable the Synaptics add-on software and see if that improves the touchpad. You may also have to have to do some tweaking in the control panel to suit your preferences. I do both and it's a lot better now. 4) Speakers - does the Aspire One have a "Realtek HD Audio" applet down on the toolbar? If so, go into that and play around some. On the Speaker tab try turning on the "Loudness Equalization" option or picking an equalizer setting with some audio boost. Made my speakers a lot more "listenable". 5) Great build quality? Are you nuts? This is an Acer. It's crap! (*insert sarcastic emoticon here*) I look forward to getting my hands on an Acer Aspire One soon. Heard Circuit City has one and need to get over there to check it out |

A quick follow up, both SDHC slots work! No the expasion slot does not add to the hard drive, just mounts as a stand alone reader. Appears that it is NOT bootable. Also the SD card is completely enclosed in the left hand slot, but sticks out in the right hand slot. BTW - With music played off of external hard drive, or stead tranfering or loading of programs I only got 1 hour and 44 minutes of battery life (with the radio turned of! wifi) The mechaanical switch for the wifi is interesting... |
