This is probably the one I got during the AMEX Wishlist promo. Love it, especially for the price. If you order one, I suggest getting the biggest size and cutting it down. They run a little small.

There is a huge, huge thread on this deal somewhere (too lazy to dig for it, but I am sure someone will post it). It's been running for a long time, except that $15 off is new.

same website, same price, but Better Brand

Thanks OP

Wow, I didn't know they were this expensive. I got a free one off Freecycle and I like it a lot. Mine is only 2 or 3 inches, though. But I'm not sure if I'd like the pillows, especially if they get hot quickly.

I've heard people having problems in the past with mattresses/toppers from overstock, selling stuff claiming higher density/weight than it actually is. Just FYI.

EDIT: why in the world are full, queen, etc all the same price? weird.

Overstock has been running this scam for years... just check in the cheaper-pedic thread.

Okay. Just checked up on the problem. It was one particular high density topper claiming to be 5LB that were actually more like 3LB.
Since the ones mentioned here are 3LB to begin with, that's probably not an issue.

By the way, 3LB is not much for a memory foam topper. People in the emattress discussion seem to recommend 4-5LB foam toppers for decent support. Someone mentioned tempurpedic mattresses being 5.5LB.

As far as I know this happened one time with a topper that was advertised as a 5lbs density instead of 3lbs. It was still a good deal on a 3lbs topper, but it was unbelievable for a 5lbs topper. You can tell if they are ripping you off by the shipping weight. If you order this in a king size, first you take 77x76x4 to get the cubic inches, 23408. The convert that to cubic feet by diving that by 1728 (12in x 12in x 12in = 1 cubic foot). This mattress topper king size is about 13.5 cubic feet (once decompressed), so at 3lbs density the shipping weight should be 40 lbs, plus the weight of the pillows. That one mis-advertised product the Overstock reviewer were moaning about it, and Overstock changed the listing within a few days. To say they've been running the scam for years is a bit of an overstatement.

I've had my cheaper-pedic bed for a long time and love it. It's a 5 inch firm regular foam pad from JCPenny (the second firmest tyep) and I think a 3 inch 3lbs density and 2 inch 1 or 2lbs density toppers (it's been a long time since I put it together). The only negative is it can get hot so I'm really thinking about switching out one of the toppers with the cool version (Link). Anyone have any experience with the cool version?

I just bout this and it shipped as 40lbs. According to yours calculations a 3lb density ships at 40lbs for kings. Are they ripping me off cuz mine is suppose to be 4 inch

A good mattress pad takes care of the heat problem for me.

A 3lb density 4 inch king size should weigh about 40lbs. If the two pillows are the same density they should weigh about 2lbs each. Plus a few lbs for packaging should bring the shipping weight to about 47 lbs. Possibly quoted shipping weight is not accurate. I haven't seen a lot of complaints that the overstock toppers are not 3lb density.

Off topic but related.

I was pretty leary about the whole deal, but my wife ordered a memory foam mattress from e-bay for $399 (eastern king-sized) delivered which feels MUCH like a high end Tempur-Pedic mattress (i.e., the 1's running for >$3,000 for a king). It comes with a 10 year warranty (might be 20 yr, but for ~$400, I don't care too much about the warranty) and has 4 layers (2 memory foam layers of 4.5 lb and 5.5 lb density which is 100% visco and 2 support layers of foam). Not 100% sure about the thicknesses, but the 2 memory foam layers are ~5.5 inches thick combined and the total thickness is ~12-13". The mattress comes with a cover (not fully encompassing, more like a heavy duty fitted sheet which covers the top and sides), but the layers are NOT glued together which is actually a good thing cause you can switch the layers around for a custom feel (they also do NOT "slide" around at all due to the surface friction of the foam which has so many small holes and edges, etc.). Also, if you want to buy and add a layer of "egg crate" foam (which is what the top $ Tempur-Pedic mattresses have) to "cool down" the feel, you can easily do it.

We just used our original box-spring which is still like new.

We did a LOT of research into memory foam mattresses and you can't even build your own memory foam mattress for less than ~$600 (of equal quality to the 1 ordered from e-bay).

My wife spoke with the owner of the E-bay company and the owner said if we're not completely happy with the purchase, send it back for a full refund. This firm also had literally 1000's of positive feedback.

Anyway...just thought I'd share my experience.

I bought a full memory foam mattress from Sam's Club probably 4 years ago. Love it, best bed I have ever slept on. Its a approximately 9-10" thickness mattress. Its heavy as all get out.

They're wonderful, you lay on em, little bit of body heat softens em up, and you have absolutely no pressure points. Incredible feel. If you have a crappy spring mattress, a topper is nice, but if you're in the market for a new mattress period, go full memory foam, you won't be disappointed.

After 4 years, its absolutely given away nothing. Its still 100% stable as the day I bought it. Mine had a 10 year warranty if I recall correctly.

Amazing stuff this is, I'll never sleep on a spring mattress again if I ever have the option.

Can you tell me the eBay seller's name/id and the mattress name/etc.? I am really in need of a new mattress, and I think I'll give this a shot. Thanks!

Keep in mind that all sizes are sold for the same price, so you can buy 1 King rather than 2 twins and cut it to size.
