Ever since the start of the SERO PLAN and till now, this is definitely one of my favorite Palm program. Got it at the full price back then and still working great now, which cover future updates. Good for tethering your Palm phone to your laptop (never know when you'll need backup internet source...that's not dial-up)

Wow awesome price! Too bad I sold my Treo 755p for a HTC PPC 6800 a while ago.

For those who are wondering what this does, it's a software that will allow you to "tether" your Palm OS Phone to your computer and use it as a modem to connect to the Internet through your cellular phone carrier's network.

Of course, you will need a data plan to avoid surprise charges. This is great for those who has unlimited data plan and in need to tether a lot.

You can try to setup yourself, but carriers have different methods and ways to establish a 3rd party (not your phone) initiated connection, this is specially hard for Palm OS (Windows Mobile on the other hand, has built-in connection sharing). Also it doesn't guarantee your carrier will not detect you tether and hit you with surprise charges.

I use PDA Net, which works better.

I try both before, but price wise, I decided to go with this, which at time was $25 bux vs $34 for PdaNet.

So, if I have the SERO Plan (with a Centro), does this tack on an additional charge?

no

Nope, just hook your centro up to your laptop. The rest is done (your phone may get warm to hot for prolonged use, but that's about as dramatic as it gets).

I don't think it will, as long as you are not like going CRAZY with tethering which will make them tag your account for re-evaluation and such.

What is the difference between the free DUN (dial up networking) software that comes free from PALM and this one? I use the free version with my 755P. Only thing is if I want to use a Vista PC, I have to connect via bluetooth.

Well the thing about built-in DUN is, you have to know the number to dial, the user name, the password, and all those stuff. Another thing is, to the cellular carrier, they do kind of have a way of figuring out if the connection was established via a DUN on a 3rd party, or an internal application within the phone that started it.

They have ways to figure out if you are tethering. But then again, it just makes things easier and might be able to get away from tether detection.

With DUN, you have to worry about this
A tethering plan from your service provider may be required at an additional cost above and beyond your current service plan.

and other possible charges. You don't have to worry about that with either usb modem or pdanet.

never mind, it's just a software.
I thought it's hardware.

I think it worked mainly for Treo & Centro.

I'm unable to get the bluetooth connection on a treo 650 to go about say 1k/sec. Same phone, windows model with ICS gets 600-700k/sec.

maybe this would work better.

This program is for PALM OS phones ONLY! Not for Windows Mobile.

Silly question....so the software gets downloaded to the phone, and whatever computer you connect to it with the USB cable can access the internet? It's not software that is installed on the PC or laptop itself?

Thos.
