sorry if this is a dumb question... I just applied and got instantly approved for the Sony Visa card. On the SonyStyle.com order checkout page, I can choose the payment type of Add New Credit Card or Add Sony Financing -- which one do I choose? Either one seems to take the Sony card # I was issued. Which option do I choose to get the -$150 credit? Thanks and Aloha |

Thanks. [off-topic] On a side note, I'm using this $150 credit opportunity to buy the Sony 32" LCD 720p HDTV for $699 - $150 credit = $549 with free shipping (plus tax). [/off-topic] |

Damn tax...but still a hot deal. I just applied for the card but was not instantly approved (not sure why, I have very good credit), but maybe it's b/c it's 12am here. Now I just gotta wait for it to come instock on their website. This is going to be an expensive few months. First Xbox360 Elite deal from Dell, now this, and then I'll be purchasing a new Samsung LN46A950 LED LCD TV as well...why is gaming so $$$! Green for OP! |

I am on the credit card application page, but the only offer they are listing is 24 months 0% financing on orders over $299. Did they just change this? Was the -$150 ever listed on the application page for those who got the deal? |

I noticed the back order online and the OOS at the south coast and bev center stores and got paranoid about how they found out about this deal and wanted to end it. So i wanted to get it done ASAP. Do you think Sony will drop the price again? I know they are releasing the 160 gb one soon, in oct.
who knows!Just get the card now and you'll have ~5 weeks to decide. I'm hoping for a price drop which probably wont happen or maybe a freebie thrown in like the remote control or something lol Can any one confirm that the $299 "Qualifying Purchase" including gift card buying from SonyStyle.com? If yes, we can buy $300 gift card first and use it later when the price of PS3 is dropped. Besides, this way may give us twice of 3% Fat Cash (one from buying GC and one from redeeming GC for PS3). BTW, ebates gives 4%.

I did this with the 60 GB PS3 awhile back. It works. 1. Applied for the Sony Visa Card (it's through Chase). 2. Was given my CC number over the internet. Wrote it since it tells you it's the last time you'll be able to see it before getting your card in the mail. 3. Signed up for Sony Rewards. I got some special double or triple points. I know you get more points for buying Sony products and even more points for buying from the Style stores (online or B&M). 4. Instead of buying the PS3 on the Sony Style website (and paying shipping), I went to the nearest Sony Style Store in Pentagon City Mall (Virginia) and bought it there. They had no problem with using the CC number I copied. Just showed ID. 5. I got a $150 credit after about 3 weeks or so. 6. I got over 7000 points which is enough even today to get a free PS3 game from Sony Rewards and have points left over. 7. My PS3 purchase had no interest for 1 year. 8. You do not get the same deal if you purchase from a store other than Sony. I heard someone say they stacked with the WalMart deal. |

Previous application had something in the terms along the lines of "purchase from Sony store or website, or any authorized Sony retailer" so people were able to get the credit from buying at other places, but this time I dont see that in the terms I think the Cash Back link says that a gift card purchase isnt eligible for Cash Back so YMMV with double dipping on the Cash Back, but buying a $300 GC on the card should be fine for the $150 credit "Sony Card is issued by Chase Bank USA, NA, and is subject to credit approval. Your first single sales receipt purchase made at a SonyStyle store, including SonyStyle.com equal or greater than $299 ("Qualifying Purchase") will automatically qualify you for a $150 Statement Credit." -- so the way I look at it is that the 'qualifying purchase' is the first $299+ that you charge on you new CC at Sony store/website (doesnt matter what you buy) For example, if you get the card and then start using it: 1) Charge $350 somewhere else 2) Charge $150 at the Sony store 3) Buy a PS3 for $400 at the Sony store 4) Buy something else at the Sony store for $325 Then the 'qualifying purchase' would be the PS3 that you bought which would qualify you for the $150 credit plus 0% for 12 months on the $400 & $325 Sony purchases (mostly likely the $350 & $150 charges would be hit with interest). So the best option is to just charge the $299+ Sony purchase and then nothing else and make sure you pay it off before the 12 months are up or else you'll be hit with interest charges from the date of purchase |

Wow, it's just astonishing that people keep asking the same questions over and over, ad nauseum. If people in general would take the time to read the terms and conditions on THIS deal, they would realize it is different from PAST deals where one COULD HAVE purchased from any Sony retailer and still received the credit. THIS deal is not the same as the PAST deal, as THIS deal is better as it is $150 instead of $100 instant credit. Also, save a copy of the product page. If it says backwards compatible, and it turns out it isnt, you now have proof for a return based on false advertising. There could be a software update in the future that may allow Backwards Compatibility (BC), but that is just speculation. As to my question asked earlier in this thread, about how long between accounts to qualify for the bonus, I did not receive a clear answer from the Credit Rep, so I will take my chances and sign up for this deal (90 days since I cancelled the card, 1 year since I had the account credited). Like was hinted at earlier, since MS has issued a price drop on their line of 360s maybe Sony will throw in a nice freebie come September. If not, $150 off retail is a damn good deal in and of itself. |

I was about to jump on 40 GB back in June when wally world gave a $100 GC and the Sony card offer for $100 off. that would make $200 off of PS3 and not $150 off as of today. but I think the price of PS3 was higher in june. so either the old one or this one are more or less same. I applied for the card and paid Dr. bill and got the credit. |

ph1nn said:@Phonger How good is PS3 has a media center? I'd say PS3 is the best media center there is. It plays Blu-ray movies (with profile 2.0 support), DVD up-coverting, supports DIVX/XVID playback, can stream videos/pics/music with visualizations (there are a ton of free UPNP servers out, I use fuppes), web browser with flash support, runs extremely quiet, has built in WiFi and has HDMI 1.3 output. Also you can buy a Bluetooth remote if you don't like using the wireless controller for everything. And unlike the Xbox will never RROD.
And of course it has a ton of great game games to play with free online gaming unlike it's competitor. I love my PS3. Since when does ANY PS3 model other than the original 60GB have built-in WiFi? Also if you actually believe the PS3 is extremely quiet you are nuts. If anything the newer PS3s are much louder than the older ones. The original 60GB is by far the quietest (assuming you don't have a defective fan) PS3 model produced to date and it by no means "extremely quiet". The fan in the original PS3 ran at the same RPM rate the entire time the system is one regardless of what activity the PS3 was performing. The newest generation PS3s (the ones like the year old 40GB with no PS2 compatibility) are MUCH louder than the original CH01 series even though they draw less power and produce less heat. The reason is that the fans in these newer PS3 are just like the ones in your PC and run at RPMS according to the load it is processing. This is unfortunate because the heaviest load in terms of system demand a PS3 does is decode Blu-Ray movies. It is ironic that for the times you want your PS3 make the least noise the PS3 fan runs the loudest. If fan noise is not a problem then the PS3 is certainly top notch Blu-Ray player and you noted above. |

The deal is still going on. To get to it, click on the 'Shop Outlet' link on the top right. It will lead to a page with a box for the offer. The $399 80GB PS3 is now available from SonyStyle but it's backordered. I spoke with a rep. They don't know when they'll get more in but they'll ship on a first come first serve basis. |
